The Warrior Queen.
A gentle nurturing loving wise woman that took ANYBODY’S B.S. and turned it into magical infectious laughter.
I imagine her walk to Taylor Witherspoon Community Center would be long, due to children, young mothers, young girls young boys and elders stopping her with hugs and conversations about “who did what and who didn’t do what they were suppose to and how to make a change.”
The Warrior Queen presence was filled with the love of God and you felt it on her words.
I remember long fun days and nights with my HUGE ASS cousins!
The sound of a Knicks in the back rooms and Barry White in the front.
I remember she would say “ Hey Murph” look out the window with me and we would look at the city lights.
She would tell me about the locations of the cityscape.
Later I’d wake up in the back seat of Popa CID Cadillac, not realizing I was back in Staten Island.
I realized later that that was her SLICK loving way of giving my Mommy a break from yelling at my over active body.
She chilled me out till I got sleepy.
I later learned her real name on face book, because all I knew was Aunt Learl.
Wow look at God.
Learlean and Atherline.
God blessed us with 2 friends that became Unbreakable Soul Sisters more than some biological Sisters that we know.
Now, they are together laughing smiling and crying about what they’re going to miss.
Graduations Birthday’s weddings baby showers and other accomplishments of their children grands great grands and great great grands.
But Aunt Learl and her Sister will be forever with us.
More powerful and impactful angels, as long as WE don’t forget that WE came from.
THE LOVE of the beautiful loving colorful Warrior Queen Learlean Davis, shall not be taken for granted.
The piece I painted is titled:
“Colors of a smile”
I love you Davis family.
See you later Aunt Learl, I love you!
God be the glory!
Peace!
