POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I had such a great time in Guam running their PHENOM regional camp!!!

This is my third trip to GUAM and I absolutely LOVE the people, the culture, and the island!!!

It is such a great area and I plan on making this an annual event and looking to visit the island multiple times a year.

Coach Jimmy and his staff did such an amazing job again and this event is so well organized and the coaches work so hard and are very good! This is an extremely professional camp and I could not be more impressed!

Of course, spending time with my great friend and the best shooting coach I have ever seen in Dave Hopla is always a highlight for me.

I miss the players and the people of GUAM and I am counting down the days until I return!! Thank you to all of the players, coaches, parents, and especially, Coach Jimmy!

It was another fantastic weekend of basketball at the GIRLS NIKE PHENOM CAMP in Seal Beach, California!!

I have been running this camp since it began 23 years ago and these girls absolutely impressed me more than I anticipated! The talent level was way above average but more importantly, the COACH-ABILITY was off the charts!!!

From day 1 to day 3 the girls improved exponentially and Jamel, Joe Keller, and the staff put together an amazing event.

I was so proud of the development of the girls and we had great film sessions. There are dozens and dozens of potential college players at this event and I know this because by the time I left my hotel Monday, I had over 120 messages!!! That shows how bad these girls really want it!

These girls are able to hear the truth, be coached hard, and not be sensitive. They are real players that can be told the truth and not be mentally weak! Oh yeah, they also all verbally committed to having NO BOYFRIENDS until college!!! That was the best moment of the event! lol

Now we move into the off season and prepare for the Fall. I will anxiously await seeing these girls again in 360 days!!! Thank you to all the amazing girls and their parents for another unforgettable event!!!

It was a great second week of camp at the NIKE PHENOM CAMP in Seal Beach, California!!!

This is our 23rd year of running this exceptional and unique event! Joe Keller and his staff has provided hundreds of families with the opportunity to display their talents all in hopes of one day playing college basketball.

This camp is NOT for everyone!!! It is only for the phenomenal player! The player that has a true desire to to play at the next level. The BEST OF THE BEST!!!

We have had over 250 players from this camp make it to the NBA, that speaks for itself. This is a very unique event.

I will miss the players and the parents that attended the event last weekend and I have already communicated with over 70 players privately on social media and emails and advised them on their future endeavors. That proves how serious these players are.

I want to thank all the coaches and staff that made this event so extremely successful.

On to week 3 which is the girls event which is always a huge and very pleasant experience.

Amarion Stone, who will be in attendance at both sessions, is a young student-athlete who has been turning heads at the Phenom National Camp for the past four years. Now, he’s chasing history as he looks to become the first athlete ever to earn MVP honors three times.

However, this year’s class is loaded with elite talent. Standouts such as Maxwell Preasha and Cruz Webb, who many believe is the nation’s No. 1 point guard, are expected to be major contenders. With a deep field of highly motivated prospects looking to make their mark, the battle for MVP and camp supremacy promises to be one of the most competitive and exciting in camp history.

Where it all started 23 years ago. It’s amazing to look back and see how many lives we’ve been blessed to impact along the way. Our mission has always been bigger than basketball helping young athletes grow, build confidence, develop character, and create opportunities both on and off the court.

While we take pride in teaching the game, our greatest accomplishment is preparing players for life. Here’s to 23 years of memories, growth, and making a difference one athlete at a time. 🏀❤️

The Nations best True Point Guard in class of 2031? The top evaluate believe it…

He’ll be front and center at Session 1 of the Phenom National Camp, ready to put his work on display for everyone watching.

There’s definitely growing momentum around Cruz Webb 6’ 1” being viewed as one of if not the premier true point guards in the 2031 class nationally. The buzz isn’t just based on scoring flashes or highlight clips either; most evaluators consistently point to his IQ, pace control, vision, and ability to organize an offense at a very young age.

There are many players and parents I come across in my worldly travels that have so many questions. One question that is always asked is, “How can you tell if a player has what it takes?”

The answer is not so simple. Talent obviously matters. That means skill, athleticism, size and speed, etc.

What matters more is the passion! The desire a player would have. Almost all of the players that overachieve and make it to the next level, have that in common. They are singularly focused. They will do whatever it takes. Sacrifice!!

I do not seek out players or make players do the required work. That’s not my job and I know that doing that will not lead to success for a player.

I’m always available to players I coach, whether at camps, clinics, or DTX. If they want to work out, need advice, need analysis, all they have to do is reach out. If they do not reach out, I will respect that and assume the player isn’t in need of what we or I can provide. We will see how their collegiate career develops and where players end up.

Ironically, those that do not work, those that are lazy or think they know better, those that are mentally weak, those that do not take care of their body, those that do not listen, do NOT overachieve!!! The facts are evident!! It’s not a myth. The definition of success is OVERACHIEVEMENT!!!

Like we always say…

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink!!

We will always tell players what they need to do in order to achieve their goals. We will always be honest in our evaluation. Many can’t handle that level or type of coaching.

Coaches look their entire career for a player that has what it takes. Maybe they get one or if they are lucky, TWO!

I have been BLESSED to have many!!! When I have a player that wants it really bad, I go above and beyond to educate them on the skills and lifestyle required. Some can handle it, many can’t.

It’s best to find out earlier than later if you have what it takes. WE HOPE ALL PLAYERS DRINK THE WATER, but reality shows many die of thirst!

It has been another very successful trip to TOKYO!!!

It’s always the highlight of my travels when I make my annual trip to TOKYO and it’s for many reasons.

The great culture of the country of course but it’s the great people I am blessed to be able to not only call friends, but brothers! Coach Thiesen and his staff are some of the best coaches I know and better people! Coach Thiesen and I have known each other for 15 years and he is one of the best people I have ever met and a great coach that the Japanese players are lucky to have!!! Kris is a true BROTHER and I AM LUCKY to have such a great brother in my life!!

It is also the kids that give their all in displaying their talents and aspirations for success in this great sport. I absolutely love every second of this camp and the great kids I am fortunate enough to develop relationships with moving forward.

I am honored to have so many great relationships with the people of Tokyo and seeing these great people every year is something I always look forward to. Thank you Coach Thiesen and all the great people of Tokyo. The way I am taken care of is very flattering and I am always sad when I leave.

Until next year….
