15 YEARS OF MILKSHAKE💕

15 years of Milkshake, and for 5 of those, I’ve been lucky enough to be part of this incredible journey.

A special thank you to Marieke, who gave me this opportunity 4.5 years ago. It truly changed my life and my career. I’m going to miss you!❤️

So grateful for the team who, year after year, put their energy, creativity, and love into everything they do.

See you next year 💕

Three weeks. One Pride Month. And honestly, I’m still processing it all.

We kicked things off with Milkshake Festival.
On Saturday, I had the absolute pleasure of hosting the 3xNYX stage with the NYX family. So many familiar faces, so much energy, and a very special performance by Kate Ryan, which was basically a trip straight back to my childhood.

And then Sunday was Spikey Lee & Friends.
A completely different vibe, with our own little gym setup, including showers, bathrooms and lockers. It felt incredibly intimate, almost like there was a fourth wall between the stage and the crowd. Like we had somehow recreated one of those chaotic, intimate COVID lockdown house parties, but with a lot more people and a lot more dancing. And apparently, the performer in me decided to come back out too, because I spent pretty much the entire set dancing on stage.

Then came the after party with @raraavis_amsterdam, which was the perfect continuation of it all. A real family affair, with the energy from our DJs and performers making the whole thing feel incredibly special.

Before moving into WorldPride, I also want to say a very special thank you to @mariekesamall for everything you have done for Milkshake, for our community and for creating space for so many people to be unapologetically themselves. You have been such an incredible ally and such an important part of this community. I’m so grateful for everything you have done and for the way you have always stood beside us. Thank you, Marieke.

And then came WorldPride.

After two weekends of celebrations, we found ourselves on the @forallwholovefoundation boat on August 1st, surrounded by our community. And something unexpected happened. I felt it. Community.

The last time I was on a Pride boat was probably 15 years ago, when I was still a ballet dancer and performing on one. Pride hasn’t always felt like a necessity to me personally. I always understood how important it is for people who don’t have a community yet, or who are experiencing that feeling of belonging for the very first time.

But standing on that boat, looking at everyone along the canals, I suddenly understood it in a completely different way.

Pride Month has officially begun!

A week ago, during the launch of Beautiful Creatures at Melkweg, I had the incredible honor of receiving the very first copy. A moment I’ll cherish for a long time. But more than anything, I left feeling overwhelmed with pride.

Proud of this community. Proud of everyone who poured their heart into this project. Someone said, “This is community. This is chosen family.” And that’s exactly what it felt like.

I’m especially proud of @thesinfulson. What started as a passion project, driven by his love for photography and the people around him, has grown into something so much bigger. Beautiful Creatures is more than a photography book. It truly is a love letter to our beautiful community.

The funny thing is, Peter never fully saw what everyone else already did. We all knew there was something special in the way he made people feel seen. In the way he captured not just faces, but vulnerability, strength and identity. Last week felt like the recognition he has deserved for a very long time.

The fact that it all started at Club NYX makes it even more special to me. Over the years, Peter has documented so many of the people, moments and stories that make our community what it is. I’m honoured to not only be featured in the book through Peter’s lens, but also to have contributed my own words to it.

Everyone contributed something of themselves that night, whether through photography, performance, production, music, words or simply their presence. Together, those countless contributions, big and small, turned the evening into a collective work of love and a beautiful reflection of a community that continues to lift each other up.

Happy Pride. This community continues to inspire me every single day!

When night falls, Supertoys comes alive. And with @dua.nap eating on the visuals, it was pure electricity. ⚡🌙

The lights hit, the crowd danced and the energy was unreal.
This is what Milkshake nights are made of. 🖤✨
