We've worked hard on creating a creekside escape this summer. We cleared the underbrush and hung solar lights and lanterns from the trees. Then, we made this little sitting spot where we can relax and listen to the rippling water while reading a good book.

Today, we lost the best cat, a best friend to many of us:

Otis Wolf-Spider. 2012-2026.

He passed away in my arms at 7:45 am. He had GI Lymphoma. His suffering is over.

Otis was friendly and loving to everyone. He was the cat who would meet you at the door when you got home. He always had a meow hello and was always ready for a head scratch. All you had to do was call his name, and he'd come running.

He had an ornery side. He loved to sneak outside when your hands were full of groceries, and he'd only come back in when he was ready after a few hours, as he was an avid hunter.

He'll be missed by many. He truly was the best cat I've ever had. My heart breaks. Good-bye Otis, Oti, Oti Boy, Oat Boy.

Weekend away for our 2nd wedding anniversary, 5 years together! Quaint towns, the oldest bar in West Virginia, the antietam battlefield, a hot tub, a fireplace, charming little restaurants, and cozy libraries. ❤️❤️❤️ There's no one I'd rather adventure with than @duaneoverly

Duane found this little guy while clearing some land today. I relocated him to the cabin to keep him out of harm's way. Isn't he so cute??
