🪘🪘🪘🪘🪘 Say hello to this stunning set of tumbadoras built by Máté Jakab, Manana Percussion.

These unique drums are made from 🍒 cherry wood that has been dried for nearly a decade. They are very lightweight and have a rich resonant sound.

They sing beautiful. Very punchy, with a strong fundamental tone paired with plenty of harmonic overtones.

Máté Jakab is a true master craftsman and one of the few artisans that keeps crafting drums “en tradición.” His aim is to contribute to Afro-Cuban folkore, and he did it brilliantly again with this set.

I recently restored this beautiful historic Cuban Mahogany/Caoba Bongos for a good old friend.

I mounted:
1mm amber horse on the macho
1.6mm amber steer on the hembra

This combination produces a contrast between the bright resonant crack of the macho and deep throaty punch of the hembra.
