A little news from the Detta knitting studio… 🇮🇪🧶

I’m delighted to be rejoining the Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) community!

Textiles are in my blood. My maternal grandmother was a stocking maker in Blackrock, Dublin, and my paternal grandfather, originally from Scotland, was a ladies’ and gentlemen’s tailor in Dublin.

A few generations later, here I am, surrounded by wool and knitting machines, carrying on a little of that family tradition. ❤️

At DETTA KNITWEAR, I combine traditional flatbed knitting techniques with contemporary design, working with beautiful Irish and Scottish wool, including Ériu and Donegal yarns.

After completing my MA in Fashion Knitwear and showcasing my work at Ireland Fashion Week, AND Dublin independent fashion week at#reconnecting with Ireland’s wonderful creative community feels especially meaningful.

Here’s to celebrating our textile heritage, keeping traditional skills alive and creating knitwear with a story to tell.
