Tried out the new Dude Cake Cafe in Bristol. We had to try the viral Matilda cake and crunch cake, and both were definitely worth trying! 🍫 The drinks were 10/10, especially with their homemade syrups. You can really taste the difference! FULL TIME: @wokandspicebristol Venue & Pre-Match Build-Up — 4.7/5 ⭐️ A solid takeaway setup with a welcoming atmosphere from the moment I arrived. Being able to watch the World Cup while waiting for the food was a great touch and kept the crowd entertained before kick-off. The two owners were fantastic hosts and set the tone for a strong performance. Team Performance / Service — 5/5⭐️ The two owners put in a Player of the Match performance. Friendly, welcoming and made the whole experience feel personal from start to finish. Mains — 4.8/5⭐️ The line-up: * Chicken Balls * Beef Chow Mein with Garlic & Black Pepper * Garlic Naan * Chicken Masala * Basmati Rice A strong starting team with quality throughout the squad. The Beef Chow Mein with Garlic & Black Pepper controlled the midfield, while the Chicken Masala and Garlic Naan linked up brilliantly down the wings. The Chicken Balls were clinical in front of goal and the Basmati Rice did all the unseen work in defence. No weak performances today — every dish delivered. Extra Time / Desserts — N/A Unfortunately, no extra time was available today. A disappointing late withdrawal from the dessert squad meant no Dudecake appearance. As someone who’s obsessed with their banana pudding and milk cake, this was a big miss and left the fans wanting more. FULL TIME VERDICT/SCORE — 4.7/5⭐️ Fantastic takeaway food backed up by outstanding hospitality. Every dish put in a shift and the World Cup viewing was a welcome bonus. 📍Dude Cake, Bristol @dudecake_ is a bakery business I've seen on here several times and have always wanted to try. The trouble is, they're in Bristol. That is, other than today when they were at @bighalalfoodfestival in Cardiff Bay. So, naturally, I made plans to go over there especially to try their cakes - and I'm glad I did! We tried: 🥛 Oreo milk cake 🐣 Mini Egg crunch cake 🥜 Dubai chocolate Matilda cake Everything was amazing and super indulgent! I love the Dubai chocolate cake, it was rich and the pistachio had a strong, nutty flavour. And the crunch worked perfectly with the soft sponge. And the crunch cake was next level! They don't use cornflakes for the topping but shredded pastry and you can tell from the quality. So, so good! The age old takeaway dilemma: Indian, Chinese, or Cake?🥘🍜🍰 Ad|invite At @wokandspicebristol you don’t have to choose. Located in Brislington, this recently opened takeaway is already very popular with the locals for its excellent choices and collaboration with the bake goddess herself @dudecake_ ✨ The order: - Orange chicken - Chicken madras - Mushroom rice - Peshwari Naan - Tandoori mixed grill - Soy glazed salmon bowl - Biscoff tres leches cake - Banana pudding We fancied a little bit of both (sorry takeaway purists) but the mix of flavours hit so hard! The mixed grill especially was stunning, with great fiery flavours and plenty of chicken, lamb and kebab meat. Also a shoutout to the salmon, this was actually perfectly cooked and really nicely seasoned! Alsoooo a moment for Dude Cake. I’m obsessed with her baking and they hit just as hard as ever. I don’t know what’s in that banana pudding, but it’s a must-order for me.
