My show “Let’s go abstract” is going live tomorrow at @noodsradio

I am truly excited about this radio show
It feels like such a sweet achievement to open a radio show with my own track - with a track by @same_spill, a project I recently started with a friend

In this week’s blog post, it’s time for the next episode of our monthly ‘Dispatches From The Ambient Label Hub’ radio show!

These shows air on @listen.camp and each one features two presenters from the Ambient Label Hub, a name we coined for our small event at the @woodbridgeambientmusicfestival last year. The labels involved are Driftworks, Elm, Evergreen and Whitelabrecs and this year we thought we’d try our hand at presenting a community radio show, championing the music that brought us together: Ambient.

In this show Adrian Newton of Evergreen Music kicks off the first half, responding to a challenge he’d been set last month - Ambient made by 3 or more people! He leaned on our Inner Echo community a little for this one, and was given some great pointers.

The second half is presented by me - I dug out some recent records, with warm electro acoustic Ambient sounds that feel apt for this time of year. Adrian also announces my challenge for next month, which I’m very excited to share…

No vinyl Friday today, as we’ve been away on a little family break. I thought I’d still give my usual Friday recommendations though and also show a little love to some non-vinyl physical formats.

Last year I had the pleasure of working with the talented multi-instrumentalist and song-writer @louisgardnar with his album Emotionally Suited to be a Solo Pianist. Recently he dropped a follow-up on @lost____wisdom which is called Wingspan. I’ve been playing this album a lot and have really been enjoying the more open, less introspective sound. It’s full of Folk and acoustic-led sounds but with plenty of variety. The label pressed a limited batch of 40 tapes - I had to grab one!

Then I’ve been following @duellingants for some time and enjoyed their Reise album from a few years back. I follow Sardinia based labels @lontano_rohs_records and got a notification that a new Duelling Ants had dropped! I streamed the album on the way to a local garden centre one sunny weekend, and it really glistened. The garden centre has a coffee shop with a terrace - so I sat land listened to more in the sun. It’s in this beautiful oversized, textured sleeve. Highly recommended.
