Moab goddamn 240.

Well that was kinda fucked up. All the savages out there had every intention of putting their print onto those mountains and although many of us tried, Mother Nature is just a beast riding her own wave and sometimes, you just have to sit there and obey.

Weird feeling building up to a race like this, calculating all the possibilities and fighting through all sorts of mental battles during the race, to then have it all end due to circumstances outside of your control but that is the game, and the game is the game. The moment we let ourselves get drawn into the emotions that try to convince us that we have any sort of control over the very concrete uncontrollables, we are then trying to win a battle we cannot win and that is just straight up dumb. So although everything in my mind is trying to remind me of everything that was poured into an operation like this just to make the start line, trying to make me feel much of the suffering out there has gone unrewarded, much of the sacrifice in all the small crevices of everyday life have gone to waste, it’s all bullshit because being fortunate enough to get out here, to race, to have my crew, to laugh with my crew, to bond with my crew, to have the ability to suffer out there with my own free will, to have the desire to go further, to be able to make memories with people out here, to meet people and see things I never would have across the pond, it’s all a much bigger blessing that should swallow the way in which the race ended.

What a privilege, Moab is fucking nuts, The people are great, and my crew are gold standard humans that I cannot wait to see again, couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of sickos to do this with. Also the guys at @destinationtrailraces were just insane, they were dealt constant problems all weekend and not once, as a runner, did I ever feel stress from the volunteers, it was always help, solutions and positivity. Genuinely the best treatment I’ve ever received from volunteers at a race and it’s easy to see why people keep coming back. Until the next time Moab you sick, twisted, beautiful place.

Godspeed fuckas.

insanity wins.

Achieving a dream …. the Duncan men @dungreg @sambdun and I completed Ironman Maryland this past weekend. Huge achievement for my second IM; the first was 17 years ago at Lake Placid. I couldn't have done this without @orthovirginia and Dr. Andrew Parker, @uwsportsrehab and the team of Dr. Odoom/ Ray/ Sachi, and of course, the unwavering support of my wife, @kjduncan1720. Achilles issues, spine issues, everything - and the team found a path that enabled me to achieve a lifetime goal. I am forever grateful ❤️ @ironmanamericas
