GLOBETROTTER FIELD NOTES: From Al Muharraq to the Lab. DUST. and the Sound of Time Running Out.

Time forces us to strip away the distractions. For Bahraini artist and producer DUST. (@dustizm), the rigid structure of time serves as the conceptual foundation for his latest experimental jazz release, “A Penny For Your Thoughts in an Hourglass Of Time”. Recorded and produced in Al Muharraq, the 16-track project is an exploration of human value, fleeting moments, and absolute permanence.

The album masterfully blends bright and dark ambient soundscapes with sharp conceptual melodies. But the brilliance lies in the duality of its tracklist. Reading like a series of definitive choices, tracks like “Catch Grooves, Not Feelings” and “From The East, Not The West” highlight the minimalist, high-contrast aesthetic of the record itself.

Swipe through to explore the sound and watch the visual for “Halal, Not Haram.”

Full 16-track project streaming now via the link in our bio. Written, produced, mixed, and mastered by DUST.

This is my last post regarding my situation in Bahrain.

First, I want everyone to understand that my horrible experience in the Kingdom had absolutely nothing to do with the people of Bahrain, but everything to do with the owners of the venue!

I met some really great people there and received much needed help from people I befriended. Specifically, from the good brother @dustizm

Second, if it weren’t for a few people who paid for and supported my departure from Bahrain, I would still be there.

Again, this is not an indictment of the people or the Kingdom of Bahrain. This is solely about the owners of the venue, and their wickedness! That’s it. I apologize if it came across otherwise.

Lastly, I truly appreciate all of the love and kind words. Right now, I need your help securing work so I can get back on my feet. Please keep me in mind for any grants, DJ bookings, lectures, curation, radio, cultural programming, or archival work opportunities.

Took that timeless NYC subway energy and brought it to where it all began in Bahrain 🇧🇭 .

It’s wild to see how a small community’s roots can grow to unite a global family of writers and artists.

Massive shoutout and respect to @ayfu.official and the whole @the.foundation.26 crew for the incredible opportunity and for putting it down for the culture.
