And that’s a wrap!

Two incredible games are done with development. This is exciting but also leaves a feeling of “What now?” or “What did we miss?”

Well there is always the next adventure, but both of these were such a ride. We hope you will love them as much as us. Plus, the pre-orders are already up with a discount, if you want to reserve copies now (our print runs empty faster than we expect!)

Gen Con Highlight 5 - DVC Games had DUST at their booth for people to look at as well as play a cool demo advertisement Josh made about one of the characters in the game. The reception/buzz for this game has been amazing! Fall can’t come fast enough. I want people to be able to buy this for Christmas at PAX Unplugged. Josh and I are already working on another game in the system so fans will have something coming out hopefully next year if they like DUST as much as we do! Celebration post! 346 pages and card faces later, Dust is complete. Most of you haven't even had a chance to play it yet, but for me, this is the end of a long chapter. If things go smoothly, it'll be out in December.

Thanks to @tokengaymer and @dvcgames for giving me a reason to take it this far, and to @johncgonz for giving me a reason to start.

Dust was primarily created in a custom painting engine called cardboard. If you're interested in joining the alpha, please dm me.

The journey of bringing DUST to life has been unlike any of my other game projects. It started after PAX Unplugged 2024 when I picked up my co-designer, writer, and illustrator @joshuatehrlich from a RISD class, and it has evolved through countless iterations into the game it is today. A huge part of that transformation came from the support and vision of our publisher @dvcgames, who helped direct and push us to design something truly special.

What was especially rewarding was watching people get drawn into the booth by nothing more than the box and a handful of cards. Seeing that level of curiosity and excitement before the game has even launched was incredibly validating.

I can’t wait to see how players respond when @dustthegame releases this fall!

"I am afraid that you've died..."

We wanted DUST to evoke a lot of feelings. It has that choose-your-way approach to storytelling, with the top-down maps of early adventure games, plus a graphic novel of cutscenes and a bunch of memorable characters. It is truly a handcrafted adventure, one where the designers and DVC team have checked over every card to make a perfect, pocket-sized memorable experience.

If you have a chance, we posted a few sample cards and the email waiting list on our website, so you can keep up, and hopefully come take a closer look at Origins and Gen Con.

Playtest DVC Games’ DUST at Unpub Festival in Baltimore with designers Joshua Ehrlich and Danielle Reynolds! This solo/co-op choose-your-own-adventure transforms a point-and-click computer game into a card-based experience where you’ve landed in purgatory with no memories of your death. Playtesting is free, so check out this and other games that weekend. Spots are limited, but we will be playtesting a few times on Sunday, March 15th, from 12-4 pm!
