This summer I had the privilege of running around Westland for @bezoekwestland for the third season in a row. By far my favorite project of the year! And this time @m_vd_beukel wrote the articles that I shot.

The task? Capture the region, its visitors, nature, food, activities and horticulture that has made it the second biggest food producing region IN THE WORLD.

Such a small region PACKED full with things to do, see and lucky for me, EAT!

NEW EPISODE: season 4 - prelude-
T-man & Jokke zijn terug van een zomer die bijna faliekant afliep. Zarautz lag drie weken plat, maar het water was zo warm dat er een gifalg in bloei ging, met griepachtige klachten tot gevolg. En alsof dat niet volstond, kreeg Jokke ook nog een Portugees oorlogsschip vol op zijn rug tijdens een rustig zwem moment met de kids. Verder gaat het over tien midlengths die getest werden, een board dat de wavepool van Edinburgh niet overleefde, nieuwe Pukas boards met Nic Von Rupp, en Kelly Slater die op zijn 54ste een wildcard scoorde voor Teahupoo.

Once again: epic shit.

De zomer is voor mij altijd wat vrijer. Meer tijd op het water, minder vaste patronen, gewoon lekker de rust pakken waar die zich voordoet.

Met het najaar komt er weer meer ruimte om te focussen. Minder afleiding, meer routine, een natuurlijk moment om het weer wat strakker te trekken.

Voor mij betekent dat vooral slaap en voeding weer serieuzer aanpakken. Vaste bedtijden, bewustere keuzes in de keuken, gewoon net iets scherper dan de afgelopen maanden. Niet omdat de zomer verkeerd was, maar omdat deze periode om iets meer discipline vraagt.

Wat ga jij de komende tijd weer wat scherper aanzetten?

“Let’s be real. As surfers, we can feel like the waves were better than ever, but our memories aren’t exactly scientific evidence. It’s a bit like landing a cutback that feels absolutely insane, only to get an insecurity jumpscare when someone shows you the video afterwards.“
