Managed to revamp my only 1920s make within about an hour of hopping on the train to catch a lovely little @artdecosocietyny event. 😊✨

I never quite liked the drape of the silk I’d used for the skirt, so I decided to try overlaying it with this gorgeous embroidered dupatta I’d worn to my husband’s college roommate’s traditional Indian wedding a few years back. Saris were actually commonly used by Western women to create some of the popular evening gown styles of the 1920s, so even though this is *not* a totally historically-faithful reconstruction, it sorta manages to capture the right silhouette, and I can’t believe how much fun I had chaos-draping and tacking this overlay on. Definitely made it out of the house with a few pins still hitchhiking along for the night, lol.

Thanks to @artdecosocietyny for such a dazzling night, and to all the lovely folks I met there! Looking forward to next time.

What a fabulous evening at Deco After Dark!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for an unforgettable night of cocktails, conversation, and camaraderie. We were thrilled by the fantastic turnout and loved seeing so many familiar faces alongside new friends who share a passion for Art Deco and Jazz Age style.

A special round of applause goes to those who arrived dressed in stunning 1920s and 1930s-inspired attire. From elegant flapper dresses and dazzling beaded accessories to impeccably tailored suits, your outfits brought the glamour and sophistication of the era to life and made the evening even more memorable.

Events like these remind us that the Art Deco community is as vibrant today as ever. Thank you for helping create such a warm, welcoming, and stylish atmosphere.

I am now a volunteer with the Art Deco Society, and I was so excited to meet with old and new friends!! :)
Thank you to @the_vile_and_putrid for telling me there even was an Art Deco Society in the city… you’re a real one 😔🫂 (I WISH I TOOK A PHOTO WITH YOU LAST NIGHT NOOO 💔💔💔)
It was a great experience to talk about a topic I am so deeply invested in with likeminded and understanding people, but also many with different points of view! It was refreshing and very fun! :)
Thank you to everyone for documenting my existence.. I forget to take pictures 🫣🤣💛
I had a wonderful time, and I hope we can do this again soon! 💛💛💛
