Digger had a disastrous opening weekend, and the internet is treating it like a championship loss. When did movies become a spectator sport? Not every film needs a billion-dollar opening weekend. Sometimes original filmmaking needs a little room to breathe.

Why do fans defend celebrities they’ve never even met?

The Kelly Clarkson controversy involving Brooklyn’s Art of Play reveals something disturbing about celebrity fandom, parasocial relationships, and the psychology of online outrage.

On The Brush Up, Dunbar breaks down how parasocial relationships make fans feel personally connected to celebrities, why social media rewards moral outrage, and how those forces can turn a single complaint into a massive online backlash against a small business.

Kelly Clarkson provided the grievance. Her fans provided the punishment. The internet provided the gasoline.

When celebrities have millions of followers, are they responsible for what happens when their fans go on the attack?

Mike Wilson (@dwmodpod) and Dunbar Dicks (@theunrealdunbar) explore celebrity influence, fan psychology, internet mob mentality, and the dangers of social media outrage.

Is the internet being taken over by bots?

Between AI-generated content, fake social media accounts, bot farms, and manipulated engagement, it's getting harder to tell what's actually real online. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X are flooded with anonymous accounts, and even viral trends aren't necessarily what they seem.

The Dead Internet Theory suggests that much of what we see online is no longer driven by real people. Are we already watching that happen?

Mike and Dunbar take on the death of the human internet, the rise of AI-generated content, and why The Brush Up is still 100% USDA HUMAN MADE. No AI hosts. No robot replacements. Just two actual idiots with microphones.

44 MILLION UNLEASHED ON SMALL BUSINESS.

The Kelly Clarkson controversy surrounding Brooklyn’s Art of Play has sparked a much bigger conversation about celebrity influence. While the internet debates whether Rubin was rude, we see a business owner who appears genuinely frightened by the attention his store is receiving.

Did Kelly Clarkson use her celebrity status to punish a small business for telling her no?

What happened inside the store isn’t nearly as important as what Clarkson chose to do afterward. Was Kelly Clarkson justified in speaking out, or did she abuse her celebrity influence?

Mike Wilson (@dwmodpod) and Dunbar Dicks (@theunrealdunbar) break down the controversy.

AI taking over comedy? An AI bot just nabbed 375k followers by remixing real comics' jokes! George Brett Olson's bit got a wild twist.

Is this the future of comedy or just tech plagiarism?

GOMEZ ADDAMS MIGHT BE THE GREATEST HUSBAND IN MOVIE HISTORY.

Gomez and Morticia have been married for years, and that man still acts like he’s trying to win her over.

Raúl Juliá didn’t just play Gomez Addams. He gave an entire generation of men a masterclass in loving their wives.

Forget the relationship experts. Watch The Addams Family.

Mike and Dunbar break down why Gomez and Morticia might be the ultimate marriage goals.

Tag someone who deserves a Gomez Addams.

MAKE AMERICA MEDIEVAL AGAIN.

Pneumonic plague. Russia. Nearly $800,000 in alleged NIH funding.

Mike and Dunbar have questions.

After all the outrage over Fauci, Wuhan, and government-funded infectious disease research, the conversation has somehow circled back to one of humanity’s oldest nightmares.

The Black Death wasn’t supposed to be a campaign promise.

Is this the beginning of a zombie movie or just another week in American politics?

Only in Los Angeles could a tropical storm forecast turn into a conversation about male anatomy.

Tropical Storm Rachel is headed toward Southern California, and the projected storm path looks like something Donald Trump drew with a Sharpie.

Mike and Dunbar attempt to discuss the weather like responsible adults.

It goes about as well as you’d expect.

Send this to someone in LA who needs to see the forecast.

Where does U.S. military aid actually go? Dunbar says some circles back to American defense contractors. Mike clutches his pricey, government-contracted pearls, which turn out to be plastic and 3D printed. A quick riff on defense spending and Pentagon contracts.
