Our dear friend @down_town_april_brown was in town recently so it was a perfect reason to head to @ravensoundaz and cut a live one take version of our (currently unreleased) song, SIMPLE LIFE.

It’s always a joy playing music with dear friends (our Grove) and spending time in the studio to just create. We hope you enjoy this stripped down rendition of
Simple Life. Thank you @dylanludwig for letting us drop in at @ravensoundaz. If you need a great spot to record, hit up Dylan!

It’s become something I look forward to all year — this annual tradition of heading out to Prescott, AZ, for a weekend of shows.

This year we played a trio of concerts trio style, with @aaron.lawsondrums on drums and @sethbassers on bass, and it has been such a pleasure to see @fairweathersocialclub (where we performed) and @the_crescent_bar_fwsc (the adjoining bar) grow and thrive.

It’s an incredibly cool environment and connected series of small businesses and arts organizations, and I am hugely appreciative of everything @mosquito_coast and @kennduncan have done to make it happen, and to the sound-wizard @dylanludwig for making sure it all sounds good and recording so many shows and studio projects on these trips over the years.

Shoutout too to the @theravencafe , for feeding us such amazing meals all weekend, and for making us feel at home — and haunted by the hill country blues soundtrack!

If you’re anywhere near Prescott, stop by and check these spots out, and if you’re a musician…well, I’m telling ya, find a way to add a stop on your next tour out that way!

Here’s to all good things ahead! Keep on building good things.

This strange little album has finally escaped into the world on streaming platforms. Given its eccentricities, it may only be a single listen from some, but I’m grateful for anyone willing to spend time in its company. It’s great to listen to for late hours, dim rooms and the spaces between waking and dreaming, though you’re welcome to test it against the daylight.

I’m still a little startled by the names attached to this record. So many talented people wandered into its orbit and left their mark on it. My sincere thanks to:

@dylanludwig
@stinky_cabbage
@cherryalivebooks
@cool_brag
@brudeytwo
@jepsi.mae

And massive thanks to Lacey Medina for designing the cover art. Last, but not least; big thanks to Paul Ruffner and David Coupaud. #sound #music #avantgarde #jazz #drone
