Reel Steel (2011) Edit by dylanonekay on TikTok Real Steel is a 2011 sci-fi sports drama directed by Shawn Levy and starring Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up former boxer struggling to survive in a future where human fighters have been replaced by giant remote-controlled machines. It’s based on Richard Matheson’s short story Steel, but the plot follows Charlie as he takes temporary custody of his estranged son Max, leading the pair to salvage an obsolete sparring robot named Atom from a scrap yard. The film used practical animatronics and choreography by Sugar Ray Leonard. It gave way to combat robotics shows like BattleBots resurfacing, turning the film into an absolute gem that hits especially hard for parents. Though Jackman and Levy have periodically expressed interest in a sequel, no official project has ever moved forward. Follow @someoneofheart for more #reelsteel #robot #boxing #heart #love
