Transitions have always presented a unique challenge for me. I love structure and consistency and my regular order from my favorite restaurant. But I also crave novelty and seek out adventure and must always leave the door open for spontaneity. (Who would have guessed, I’m human. 🙃)

I’m in the midst of yet another transition- and in many ways we all are. Beginnings and endings are constant- every day presents choices to continue with our lives or make a decision that can change it forever. Which, depending on your nature, can be terrifying or thrilling.

September is here and whispering the incoming of a new season and for me a time of reflection. I celebrated my 9-year anniversary with my lady (NYC I LOVE YOU), have started my final year of grad school, and am continuing to learn how to live with juxtaposing emotions- grief, joy, pain, and pleasure (the list goes on but I won’t bore you).

The last couple of years have presented some of the most difficult, challenging, and beautiful experiences of my life. I have experienced deep loss- loss in relationships, ways of life, jobs, ideas, and people. I have also experienced immense joy- intense pleasure and had the most self-fulfilling, life-reassuring moments I’ve ever had. I am so excited for everything to come that I have to force myself to slow down and indulge in the present because regardless of the pain- this is the human experience and the lows, no matter how dark, make the highs that much more worth it.

I’m grateful for my friends and family (blood and chosen) who have loved me, cried with me, supported me, and checked me when I needed it. I'm grateful for good books and art, meals made fresh from the gardens grown by those I love, sunsets and sunrises, dirty jokes, wholesome jokes, traveling, binge-watching my grandpa's favorite tv shows with him- just.. grateful. So what I’m saying is, bring the transitions, bring the change, bring the challenges - I. Am. READY.
