Wow, what a season 🤩 new friends, new climbs, and new found confidence, all thanks to all the wonderful humans that has made this trip one to remember!

We’re in our final week in Rocklands for 2026 so I thought I’d post some of my first ascents from this season 🤍 Post 1/2

@micky_jt and I found the Piano Wall 10 years ago! We did all the lines that we could do back then, leaving this beautiful strip on perfect edges undone. I tried it a couple of times after that but my fingers and climbing IQ were nowhere near where they needed to be.

Coming back last week, things were different - I could see multiple paths through the sea of edges, and after a couple of hours of I knew that one was possible for me.

I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of @hollytrim_ @gajdaphotography @jacksontankersley and @dynobryno

Spooky step-up season is in full effect! @dynobryno and @jacksontankersley put up this mega a couple of weeks ago and I’d been dying to get on it ever since! They came out with me late at night, triple stacking the much needed pads for this to go down! I love Rocklands 🚀

Beginnings and endings should be fun fun fun 😆 And we had the most lovely session with the Rocklands Fam on our final day! Rocklands, so hot right now🔥☀️🔥 😮‍💨 our beloved @krimdogbillionaire 💋sent Prestige Worldwide no knee-bar 😱👹and I sent this lil crimp snack Systematic Session just around the corner. Thank you to @hollytrim_ for the inspo to try this line and @mattiasbmclimbs for the gardening and demystifying the sit start. Good times😎 thank you to @the_adventures_of_mim for the 👠 Freddy (aka Baby Rocklands 👑) for the smiles and snugs, and all the tagged homies for the support! “Shooters with the Boaiyz” - Definition: An intimate convergence of souls, in which multiple bros lay supine upon crashpads and look for shooting stars and discuss life’s most important concepts.

Secondary Definition: Yeeting your meat from jug to jug as hard as you can, in ZA, in order to repeat another random @mattiasbmclimbs dyno. Losing countless molecules of skin, but gaining glory in the process.

These sessions are truly why I come out to Rocklands each summer. Pure fun and more psyche than I get to experience at any other time of the year, with @dynobryno and @jacksontankersley who both love dynos just as much as I do.

Sending lines like this one is great, but it’s the banter and having full permission to become a kid again and play and laugh and cheer on your friends and solely focus on having as much fun as possible.

When this happens, the score takes care of itself. We had an incredible day exploring The Outback for the first time, where I got to climb up 4 great lines:

“Left for Dead” (V9), “Big Boy” (V11), “Rainman” (V11) 🎥, and “Heat” (V10).

All 4 were SICK! Kinda can’t believe nobody goes out there… Shoutout to @jmanlove for coming out to support!

Looking forward to a few more days in paradise!

Dyno - единственный элемент в скалолазании, где ты вообще перестаёшь касаться скалы. Все четыре точки опоры одновременно в воздухе. На долю секунды тебя держит только точность собственного прыжка. Ошибся на пару сантиметров, летишь вниз. Хорошо, что там лежат маты.

Боулдеринг - это скалолазание без верёвки на небольшой высоте. Звучит почти безобидно. На самом деле маршруты здесь короткие, но каждое движение приходится рассчитывать буквально по миллиметрам.

Посмотри на этот прыжок. Перед ним нависающий валун, зацепиться почти не за что, только узкий край наверху. Он резко отталкивается и буквально влетает под нависание. В воздухе успевает выбросить руку, цепляется кончиками пальцев за край и одним движением вытягивает себя наверх. Никакой верёвки. Никакой страховки в воздухе. Только пальцы, прыжок и полное доверие собственному телу.

Мировой рекорд в dyno — 2,85 метра свободного полёта. Его установил американец Скайлер Уикс ещё в 2010 году, и с тех пор никто его не превзошёл.

Этот прыжок не рекордный. Но если бы его сняли снизу, как в прошлом видео, и не спалили страховочные маты, мы бы сейчас все дружно кричали: «ВАУ!». Ракурс решает всё.

Dyno, единственный элемент в скалолазании, где ты полностью отрываешься от скалы. Ни руки, ни ноги больше ни за что не держатся. На долю секунды всё зависит только от точности прыжка. Промахнулся на пару сантиметров, летишь вниз. Хорошо, что внизу лежат маты.

Szn opener on “Popular Opinion” (V13). I’d say this is as close as you can get to a five-star problem, without getting too high off the ground! Perfect, comfy sit start position, some fun kneebar moves and perfect, wide compression on glassy slopers, to a cool crux throw. I think it’s the most skin-friendly problem of the grade in Rocklands. There aren’t many (everything here is pretty GD sharp 🤐).

I actuallly tried it once last year and did the stand (basically the two crux moves) second try, then linked into the stand from the sit first try. I thought I would do it quickly, and that there was no way it was V13, but then proceeded to dry-fire off the crux for hours and hours, trying a myriad of different foot sequences, eventually settling on this cool bicycle. Today I showed up with what I thought was a very dialed sequence, but again just dry-fired off the crux until I started messing around with different beta… for like two hours. Eventually I circled back to the beta I showed up with, the bike, committed to it and sent second try. 🤦🏻
Regardless of the difficulty, it’s one of the best in the lands! So psyched and grateful to be here again!
