Introducing Caribbean Threads - a new Poinciana Magazine digital series exploring the stories that connect the Caribbean. While every island has developed its own distinct festivals, traditions and cultural celebrations, many of them share common threads that have evolved over generations into the unique expressions we know and love today.

To mark the launch of the series, we're taking a trip down memory lane to the inception of Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival. Launched in 2015, the festival celebrated Caribbean culture and music by bringing together artists, sounds and traditions from across the region while incorporating uniquely Bahamian events such as the People's Junkanoo Rush, Junkamania and Music Masters. The result was an unforgettable celebration that also gave us a number of classic Bahamian songs.

If you spot someone you know in this throwback, be sure to tag them in the comments! And stay tuned for more Caribbean Threads stories as we continue exploring the rich cultural connections that unite our region.

In all things, give thanks. As long as you have life, there are chances for you to make an impact on the world. You just stay positive and keep putting one foot in front of the next. You never know who and how much you may be inspiring others, and just as importantly, you never know how big of a legacy you are building for yourself!

A heartfelt thank you to the City of Miramar and everyone that came together to make this happen! This recognition is nothing we would have ever dreamed of.

To have this much energy after dancing and singing with us for an hour and thirty minutes is humbling. We’re talking to those of you that were limbo dancing and mashing the roach with us to our native Bahamian sounds of Junkanoo and Rake and Scrape! We’re talking to those of you that were getting down with us to the funk covers and our pop hits like Move it Like This and Dancing in The Moonlight! We’re talking to everyone who sang every word to Hooked on a Feeling and our song Best Years from the movie Shrek! We love you so so much for the energy and love you gave us in Milwaukee! Summerfest 2026 on the 250th independence anniversary of America will forever be in our hearts! Right now, we’re wearing the biggest #smile
