First - congrats to Joseph for making such a beautiful album. I can’t say how many times I listened to the album on repeat not only because I was mixing it, but because I genuinely loved it. Next, huge shout-out to everyone involved. @anoopdesouza played a huge part in my involvement and we really took producing back to the old school ways - live tracking a band, recording everything to tape, mixing with analog gear, and working with lots of love. Meeting all the talented musicians was one of my favorite parts. Lots of new friends and relationships were built over the course of this album. This truly was long but rewarding process. Please fuel your soul and give this album a listen!

YEARNALISM BTS - PART 1 (pre production, writing and recording)

To executive produce an album means applying a macro level perspective along with a very detailed lens across the entire process simultaneously.

From writing and pre production up until the very final stage of mastering, I realized how essential each phase of the process was, and that the quality of attention you bring to them determines how successful you’ll be in preparing for the next step.

Here are a few snippets of the first stages of the process of making the album

1. Press photo w/ some of the analog gear used on the album
2. The actual take we used on “Sunday”
3. In the control room adding organ to the outro of “Sunday”
4. Fuzz guitar solo on the outro of “Dressed In Metal”

I produced/co-wrote on Sunday, Believe Me, When I’m Gone, Dressed In Metal, Let Me Go, Better, All My Love and Jasmine’s Sonnet.

Rose, thank you for enlisting me to be your trusty co-pilot in the beautifully chaotic fever dream that was the making of this album. You and I make a great team, and I can’t wait to see how this music blossoms in the hearts of whomever comes within earshot of it.

Being asked to help make this album with you deepened my understanding of what it means to build community, stay uncompromising with one’s artistic vision, and uphold the highest standard of excellence with every step of the process.

Forever grateful for our friendship. So proud of us for this one.

We recorded this album in September 2024 straight to tape, and Musicians were certainly harmed in the creation of this album, because these guys played, wrote, produced, and/or sang their hearts and soul out… also, I’m miserable to work with.
