After an incredible journey from Europe to South Africa in his 37-year-old BMW E34, we were honoured to welcome E34 Xpeditions to BMW Constantia.

As the southernmost BMW dealership in Africa, we are proud to have been the first BMW dealer to reach out and invite him to our dealership on this remarkable adventure. To help keep the journey going, our team completed a full vehicle health check and oil service on his legendary E34.

BMWCCCT Welcomes Theodor to Cape Town

This weekend, BMWCCCT had the privilege of welcoming Emanuel and his incredible 37-year-old BMW E34 520i, “Theodor,” to Cape Town as part of his epic journey across continents. Check there story out @e34xpeditions

Our convoy met up with Theodor at Killarney International Raceway before setting off on one of the most scenic routes the Mother City has to offer. From Killarney, we cruised through Ou Kaapse Weg, made our way to Hout Bay, and enjoyed an unforgettable drive along Chapman’s Peak, where we were treated to a spectacular Cape Town sunset.

To round off an amazing afternoon, we parked up and refuelled ourselves at Fish on the Rocks while sharing stories of adventure, travel, and our mutual love for BMWs.

Theodor is more than just a car, he is a testament to BMW engineering, adventure, and the enduring passion that connects enthusiasts across the globe.

met on a parking lot in sagres. while we were trying to get our own things done (after already being stopped by five people), emanuel came over and asked for tools because our trailer looked like it had some. we actually had exactly what he needed – everyone feltwas happy.

after that, we ran into each other a few more times in morocco and got to join him for a bit on his crazy journey.

in the middle of the sahara (morocco), we decided to have a movie night with horst. that’s how we came across a documentary by @philippe.opigez and @ricostein_ . the film gives insight into the world of inclusive surfing in northern portugal, where people with and without disabilities ride the waves together.

the film follows the remarkable stories of hannes, fritzi, adriani, pia, and malin, each experiencing the magic of the ocean from their own perspective.

the story touched us so much that we got in touch with the association and now want to support them, especially through social media.

Overlanding Inspiration :: @e34xpeditions 🗺️

“My name is Emanuel and I quit my job last spring. Since then I‘m on the road with my faithful BMW who is called Theodor. The first quest was Germany - Central Asia. A 26,797km adventure Including Kazakh steps, high altitude roads up to 4,655m in Tajikistan and the Altai Mountains. After driving back across Russia I decided to extend the journey and head to Dakar, Senegal. Once I reached Dakar it felt wrong to turn back so right now I‘m heading to South Africa spontaneously.

Theodor is the true hero of this quest. We covered over 49,000km and 38 countries in the last 10,5 months. The sturdy 2.0l 6 cylinder engine has made no problems. Basically no repairs were necessary except for a broken (37 y.o.) radiator in the Tajik mountains and a broken wheel bearing in Siberia. This loyal 37 y.o. machine is not only a great, comfortable travel companion but also a great diplomat. In almost every country he makes people smile.”

5 Months ago I took the ferry from spain to morocco. Not really knowing what would come, how my car would be performing, how I would like it. Now here I am, in country nr. 10 living life to the fullest. Pinch me, is this real?
