I feel very lucky to meet such talented and creative humans on my adventures, and this is a beautiful example. I was grateful enough to cross paths with Al, @eagleniezen an incredible nature photographer here in Canada. This is a shot of the Great Blue Heron. Currently, approximately 5-6000 herons live in British Columbia and can be seen all year round on the coasts and southern interior. Although they are commonly found in B.C., their numbers are declining due to human activity. They have been known to abandon a colony that is within 200 meters of the presence of humans. Because of their declining population, the Great Blue Heron has been placed on B.C's Blue list of vulnerable species. B.C.'s wildlife act has implemented measures to protect their nests and eggs all year round. If you find a Heron, please do not approach any colonies, especially between March and June. This is the time they are the most sensitive to abandoning their eggs if disturbed.

Did you know that most Herons can grow as tall as 135cm high - that's taller than most 3rd graders - however they only weigh about 2 to 3 kg! Which is about the same as a newborn baby!

Thank you again, Al @eagleniezen for this awesome shot and letting me share it ! Please check out his page for more stunning pictures 🙏
