It’s no mystery that Charleston has some great food!

Here are some of the bites I have enjoyed in West Ashley over the last few weeks 🥰

@elmolino_supermarket Taco box is a must, their chicken nachos are also my favorite nachos in Charleston. They make their own tortillas and chips. The guacamole is always so fresh! 🌮

@earlybirddiner I have had countless meals here over the last 15 years and it is always amazing. They have the BEST pancakes in Charleston and I recently tried one of the specials… wow these banana pudding pancakes were perfection.🥞

@rubysnystylebagels Is the closet thing this NY girl has had to a real NY bagel. I usually do an everything with olive cream cheese or a BEC on an everything saltpepperketchup iykyk but the smoked salmon cream cheese was calling to me 🥯

@baguettemagic Always knocks it out of the park with their pastries. This pop tart, no matter the flavor, is ALWAYS 🔥

@turbocone Is my guilty pleasure. It is always perfection. Apparently there is a pineapple dole whip situation that people eat at Disney… this is my Charleston fix that has been holding me off until I can save a second mortgage to go to Disney 😅

@sultans.westashley I can’t say enough good things about this place. I love the shawarma but I can’t stop thinking about this Baklava ✨

Save this post for your next meal out in West Ashley!

Charleston was the last stop of my US trip. South Carolina really is a special place, intense history and rich food culture. Southern hospitality is incredible and some of the best in the world and @verns_chs from @danoheinze and @bethany_heinze is a must. I ate breakfast @earlybirddiner 4 mornings in a row and I’m still trying to strip off the calories gained from their indulgent breakfast menu

Most people knock out the drive from Charleston to Columbia, South Carolina, in two hours, possibly stopping at a fast food joint along the way. But if there’s no rush, why not make a day of it?

Start with breakfast at @earlybirddiner and a waterfront stroll in the Holy City before getting on the road, stopping for a standout lunch with lake views in a lesser-known stretch of the state, then finish with a riverside walk before dinner at @hendrixcola in Soda City.

Invite yourself to slow down to the pace of your desire out on the open road. Continue our our full guide to this road trip adventure at the link in bio.

Long before craft cocktails and specialty coffees became travel staples, sweet tea was already earning its place on tables across South Carolina.

Today, you'll find it everywhere from family-owned diners and waterfront restaurants to roadside cafés and historic inns. National Sweet Tea Day is the perfect excuse to raise a glass to a tradition that's been welcoming visitors for generations.

🍳 Charleston does brunch really well, and it’s as much about the experience as it is the food. Some spots lean classic and Southern, others are more laid-back or right on the water, but all of them are places locals come back to again and again.

A few favorites worth checking out:

✨ Poogan's Porch – classic Southern brunch in a historic setting

✨ Early Bird Diner – laid-back, local favorite with comfort food classics

✨ Fleet Landing Restaurant & Bar – waterfront views right on the harbor

✨ Saltwater Cowboys – Shem Creek views with a fun, lively vibe

✨ Vicious Biscuit – bold, over-the-top biscuits and brunch plates

✨ Frannie & The Fox – wood-fired dishes and a beautiful courtyard setting

Whether you’re meeting friends, hosting visitors, or just taking your time on a weekend morning, brunch is part of the Charleston lifestyle.

It’s not usually rushed, and that’s kind of the point.

If you’re looking for more local spots (or a few hidden gems), I’m always happy to share.
