I love my neighborhood. Heritage Hill district, East Hills, Eastown— these different areas each provide such interesting architecture, each house looks completely different, one after the other! Especially now with the dramatic leaf changing— this place looks more magical than ever! #westmichiganrealestate #grandrapidsrealestate #GR #historic #historichomes #historicpreservation #grandrapids #michigan

Each week, we are taking the time to highlight fellow community organizations on our page.

The Eastown Community Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the Eastown neighborhood in Grand Rapids. Their mission is to foster a safe, diverse and walkable neighborhood by creating opportunities for neighbors to engage and connect. It was founded with the help of Aquinas College and Eastown residents back in 1973.

It is always great to see yesterdog open and doing well. You forget things like the fact that they have a walk up window until you have a pandemic and need to use it. This is he Ultraslut. If you have to ask, you don’t know them as well as you think you do. 🤪🤪🤪 🌭🌭

I need to post one more time about @themarsupials cause these guys agreed to drive down from Harbor Springs to fill in for another band that had to drop out of the Cherry Park series! My only request was that they play one of my favorite songs, Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group. I booked these guys to open for Sherman Gepherd’s EP release last year and they blew me away with their amazing rendition of this timeless jam. Not only did they agree, but they brought on an amazing keyboard player to fill out the quartet— and he melted my face! Great work, you guys! Thanks again for coming out! #easthills #GR #themarsupials #westmichiganmusic #grandrapidsmusic #grandrapids #michigan

I miss playing shows. Getting bandmates onboard, jamming through a set list over and over, the butterflies in your stomach right before you take the stage.. I can’t compare the feeling of playing live to any other activity. Another passion in my life is social organizing. Event planning, booking bands, raising funds for a good cause— Over the past few months, I’ve helped create numerous shows, fundraising events and opportunities for local bands to have their music heard. And through @easthills.neighborhood we have another event TONIGHT (9.24.20) at Cherry Park w @themarsupials and @kingmakerband 🔥🔥 ive known both of these bands for a long time and feel lucky and proud that we were able to book them both for a night of straight up rock music! So come out tonight to hear some amazing music! The event will go from 6-9pm at Cherry Park in East Hills! #summertime #livemusic #liveforlivemusic #endofsummer #rockband #jamband #westmichiganmusic #grandrapidsmusic #themarsupials #kingmaker #easthills #grandrapids #michigan

“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be” Lao Tzu

We all have beliefs that have the potential to inhibit our success. At Hey Barber, we work hard to change that mindset.
‘I’m not good enough’ becomes ‘I have more to learn’
‘Money is not for me’ becomes ‘success is all around me’
‘Others are responsible for my success’ becomes ‘I have endless opportunities before me’
‘This industry is only for Lone Rangers’ becomes ‘Teamwork makes the dream work’ 😂

What’s holding you back? Let’s overcome together!

A lot of the magic that is @eastown_gr happens here. Collaboration between community and business is one of the biggest reasons that our four districts of Uptown thrive. Would you like to get involved? Message us! We are always looking for volunteers.
