May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! To kick things off, we’d like to spotlight the Asian Comedy Festival happening right here in NYC this Friday and Saturday. Join them for 2 nights and 6 shows with the best AAPI comedic talent spanning stand-up, sketch, music and some never-before-seen surprises in a comedy festival!
.
The event showcases a line-up studded with stars 💫 , including our favorites, the super amazing creative talents and longtime Nomz supporters @andrewjfung @davidbfung of the @fungbros . If you haven’t already, check out their Netflix short with @ronnychieng . This event is essentially the fictional comedy show from the short in real life! A portion of proceeds will benefit another Nomz favorite @heartofdinner , a local charity which strives to combat food insecurity and isolation within NYC’s elderly AAPI community. Furthermore, several local AAPI-led brands have came out in support including @tochisnacks @nguyencoffeesupply @drinkmakku @homiahfoods @bokksu @drinklunar @drinksanzo and yours truly!

Sometimes all you want is hot bowl of soup without all the fuss of making it. @eatnomz is the answer with heat and serve soups featuring tasty flavors such as Brisket Radish, Pork Lotus, Chicken Shiitake, and more. All you need to do is add noodles or rice, and you’re good to go! Made locally and available at the shop!

it's lunar new year eve...so tomorrow is the eye of the tiger year!
traditionally dumplings are a big part of the new year as...to my understanding, they look like old school chinese money. so they bring good financial fortune to the new year.

@the.dimsumgang and more specifically Bao, would like to give you alternate options as to save some of his dumpling relatives.

1 - beef noodle soup from @hofoodsnyc
2 - fried chicken sandwich from @eighteightsix
3 - banh mi burger from @saigonsocialnyc
4 - staying in? frozen noodles delivered to your door from @eatnomz

there are no wrong answers here, just remember to try new things and support your local restaurants this new year.

happy new year everyone! stay safe!

we here at the Dimsum Gang understand that this is a special time of year…and that everyone is supposed to be eating dumplings for the new year(because they’re shaped like old school chinese money and represent financial luck).
but our very own Bao…would like to recommend some other options for everyone to eat on this year of the tiger….and maybe…just maybe pass on him or his dumpling cousins.

1- a bowl of beef noodle soup from @hofoodsnyc

2- a fried chicken sandwich from @eighteightsix

3- a banh mi burger from @saigonsocialnyc

4- if staying in is your thing, then how about ordering frozen noodle soup from @eatnomz

however you decide to celebrate this lunar new year, please use it as an opportunity to shop local and support your neighborhood restaurants!

happy new year from the Dimsum Gang!

We turn one today!🎂🎈 🎉 A year ago today, our doors opened for the first time. Getting there wasn't easy. It was a grim time with staff shortages, supply chain disruptions, limited cash flow, and the promise of a vaccine still far away. Yet our in-store vendors @maosbao @kimbaplab @teaandmilkny and @thekitsby took the leap with us, offering their delicious baos, noodles, kimbap, rice bowls, boba, lava cakes, and soft serve to our Chelsea neighbors, guests from around the city, and the few brave tourists who came to visit at the time.

Friends new and old answered our call to stock the shelves with their unique artisanal products, some for the first time with an outside retailer, like @eighteightsix @junzikitchen and @fongon1933. Longtime NYC businesses are represented (like @nomwah @powinghong and @46_mott) as are exciting emerging national purveyors (like @flybyjing @drinksanzo and @noonasicecream). We're grateful for all of our wonderful partners, including those who have joined since then.

When we first opened our doors, it felt great to welcome customers again, and to do what we could, in one small way, to defy the crushing wave of restaurant and retail closures around us. Twelve months later, we're thankful to still be here. Thank you to our customers who regularly visit for lunch or an afternoon treat, stock up on groceries, or just to say hi and see what’s new. Thank you for supporting the dozens of small businesses represented in our store, for placing orders via Mercato, Cornershop, and Seamless, and for your posts and stories that always make us smile. We truly wouldn’t have been able to survive without your support.

Of course none of this would have been possible without the generosity of the kind folks at @chelseamarketny, @jamestown.lp, and Google, who chose to support their small business tenants during this challenging time. Thank you!

We appreciate all of you and look forward to continuing on this delicious journey together! To keep up, follow us at @pearlrivermartfoods and @pearlrivermart. Tell us what other delicious Asian treats you'd us to share. See you soon!
