One week ago, we gathered for Tomorrow’s Table, and we’re so grateful to everyone who joined us and made the night possible. Los Angeles bartender Matthew Biancaniello returned to the city’s cocktail scene with a one-night pop-up at Evangeline Swamp Room in Chinatown on Sept. 17. Inspired by the foodways of New Orleans, the collaboration paired Biancaniello’s experimental, ingredient-driven cocktails with alcoholic oysters, including combinations of Chartreuse, jalapeño relish, fried capers, Asian pear, curry leaf, and other unexpected flavors. The evening marked a return to the kind of unconventional cocktail experiences that have defined Biancaniello’s work in Los Angeles for nearly two decades. 📸: @mortyvision

Los Angeles’s celebrated barman Matthew Biancaniello (@eatyourdrink) is back. This month, he’ll get together with the Evangeline Swamp Room (@evangelineswamproom_la) on September 17, 2026, to host an oyster and cocktail pop-up that nods to the rich foodways of New Orleans. The collaboration between one of Los Angeles’s most innovative bartenders and Chinatown’s popular New Orleans–themed bar represents a comeback of sorts for Biancaniello.

10k to kick off a busy September of swimming

FINAL PART — I Was Last. But I Finished. 🌊🏊‍♀️
During the final mile, I lost sight of the group—and then my legs began to cramp.
For a moment, it was just me and the vast Pacific. But an LA County lifeguard on a jet ski found me and guided me safely toward Venice Pier.
After 10,859 yards and nearly four hours of swimming, the finish was finally within reach. Then one last giant wave swallowed me and tossed me around like a sock in a washing machine! 😂🌊
I reached the shore exhausted, humbled, and incredibly grateful—to the lifeguards who watched over us, the kayakers and paddlers who supplied our drinks, and all my friends who waited and cheered me through that wild finish.
Last place? Maybe. But I finished—and that means everything. 💙
Christian, our organizer, you were with us in spirit every stroke of the way.
Four parts. Six miles. One unforgettable Pacific adventure.

PART 2 — The calm before 10K. 🌅🌊
5:55 AM. Nearly 30 swimmers. One destination: Venice Pier—six miles away.
Before the first stroke, there were early-morning smiles, nervous laughter, final preparations, and an incredible support crew getting ready to guide us through the Pacific.
We knew the currents would be strong. We knew the ocean would test us. But standing together at the starting line, there was no turning back.
The adventure was about to begin…

Our film, An Indivisible Marathon Swim, will be screening Sunday 9/13/26 at 10AM at the @chinesetheatres as part of the @indiewoodfilmfestival in Block JJ.

This is the 2nd film of the Rhythms trilogy, a series about the unseen rituals of inspiring people. In this film, Matthew Biancaniello embarks on a 21 mile swim, just 2 years after major back surgery. Beyond the swim itself, this story is also about why the swim happened - to raise money for the nonprofit Indivisible Arts, which is reshaping the world for kids through teaching consciousness and creativity. I feel so grateful to be trusted to share these stories in this film.
