POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Sometimes I just crave a bit of city energy… 🎨🍸✨

A couple of days in London filled with art galleries, esoteric bookshops, fabulous food, cocktails, people-watching and all those wonderful London vibes.

At The Tate Modern- Tracey Emin was excellent. I first saw an exhibition of her work at the South London Gallery in the late ’90s, so it was fascinating to return all these years later and see what felt like the second half of the story. Her openness and willingness to put so much of herself into her work really stayed with me.

The Frida Kahlo exhibition was, dare I say it, a little disappointing. Having seen the amazing exhibition at the V&A a few years ago, I think I was expecting something bigger & better. There were a few paintings and photographs I hadn’t seen before, but much of it was work by other artists inspired by Frida or using her image. Perhaps I should have read the exhibition title more carefully before going! 😂

Although it did leave me wondering… should we have a Frida Kahlo-inspired paint night? She really is an icon, after all. 🌺

There’s something so good about stepping outside the familiar, shaking up the routine and filling your eyes and mind with completely different things. Im coming home tired, inspired and creatively topped back up — with lots of little ideas quietly bubbling away for new paintings.

Exactly what I needed. London, you were rather lovely. 🦋

Last one I promise of Sunshine ☀️….but I spoke about achievement and accomplishment in my latest newsletter. Sometimes the seemingly unachievable can be achieved. By Trusting the process, listening to some guidance and taking that leap of faith, much can be accomplished.

I tried paddle boarding with my friend Geordie @eavesdroppin_ a couple of years ago- I could not stay on board (she did!) But I really liked the idea of being able to do it, when you see people on their boards (seemingly) gliding, gracefully on the water. Now, I didn’t make it look easy or graceful (I likened it to an upright lobster 🦞!) But I stayed up, I paddled, and didn’t fall in (too many times 😂)
But I went from not being able to stay up at all to a reasonable length of time finding my balance comfortably.

When you come to my painting sessions, and faced with a canvas and some paints, remember to take that leap of faith 🩷 I’ll be there to guide and hold your hand x

This week I’m at @honeyandharvey tonight in Woodbridge and @theredlionmanningtree on Thursday

My good friend Geordie Gronn tells an amazing story about the time she met Adam Ant at a bar in London. As a young girl, she had been a huge fan of Adam and The Ants. Geordie hosts a hilarious comedy podcast called Eavesdroppin’ click the link below to hear a recent episode.

“ I had the pleasure of attending an Intuitive Painter Retreat day with 12 other women. Not knowing what to expect, and not having an artistic bone in my body, it was a lovely surprise to find it was a fun and joyful day.!
Becca began with a guided meditation and some breath work before moving onto showing us some painting techniques and tips for using the painting tools provided. She then guided us through the painting process, encouraging us to let go of any notions of what the canvas looked like and instead to focus on painting from the heart & enjoy the process. At the end of the session, everyone had a truly beautiful and unique canvas and I certainly left feeling creative, uplifted and surprisingly happy with my piece of art. I Couldn’t recommend it highly enough and think it’s a great activity to do with friends.”

Thank you Michelle @girltraveller & @eavesdroppin_ 🤎
