Gene is painting the stairwell (eek) and I am spinning what I am hoping will be a 3-ply sweater spin made from batts of 60% @ebrfarm CVM and 40% @cactushillfarm merino. I sampled and everything, which is very unlike me! 💪

Tour de Fleece 2026 begins today! I am part of @mellyknits #stashdashers, and I’m going to do my best to spin through this shelf, which contains my backlog of Mellyknits guts club batts, as well as some special batts from my friends. I mostly want to get back to spinning every day, even for just a little bit. I work with wool everyday but I’ve been hyper-focused on processing fleeces for the past several months and I am eager to pivot back to spinning for a bit.

I am spinning intentionally for a @foxandfolk test shawl! I’m making a couple of options—hopefully one will work.

The blue is a blend of @hubbard_ranch Corriedale that @berleywool shared with me, @cactushillfarm merino, dyed Falkland top from @the1764shepherdess, and sari silk.

The oatmeal is a blend of @ebrfarm CVM and @applecreekmerinos merino (also from @berleywool—thanks, Kim!).

I had two fleeces from @ebrfarm that I’ve been working on for the past few years, and after sharing some with friends, I decided to blend the rest with brown and white merino with the hopes of having enough for a couple of sweater quantities. I ended up with 650g brown, 630g oatmeal, and 200g cream. They are so fluffy and easy to draft!

The subtle peach is very nice with the dark brown. More avocado pits in the freezer to try for a darker pink. Stay tuned!

Yesterday, I finished this handspun Cormus Collar for my sister’s birthday. The cream is from a CVM/silk batt that @berleywool made for me, which I spun on my Lendrum, and the blue 3-ply is from battlings that @pacificcoasterfibres made for me, which I spun on support spindles. I am finally comfortable with knitting stranded colorwork flat!

✨Creativity Shawl✨
I’ve unintentionally took a hiatus from posting on Instagram due to illness, life stuff, traveling, and an insane first 2 weeks of work in the new year. I’m feeling better now and am soooo excited to be sharing my Creativity Shawl! This shawl was such a joy to work up with a memorizable pattern repeat so you can just take it on the go to knit on. I love how Tori incorporated different yarn weights and handspun into the pattern to create a shawl that is truly one of a kind and your own.

Yarn details:
I knit mine out of hand processed CVM. The lighter beige is from Josie the sheep from @ebrfarm and you may remember her from my Prospect Pullover. I had set aside some of the less grey portions of her fleece and it was just perfect for this shawl. The dark grey/brown CVM is from @greenecountywool that my parents helped me pick from NY Sheep and Wool 2024. Both are woolen prepped and spun for that extra airy and squishy factor. I ended up chain plying to preserve some of the lock color changes in the dark grey/brown. They came out to a sport weight yarn.

Day 2 of #nostressspinalong! I rescoured this 2023 CVM fleece from @ebrfarm (“Biskit”) last week. It is really soft and fine, so in an effort to avoid overprocessing it, I’m flicking it on my @clemesandclemes lock pop and spinning from the lock on my @lady_greensleeves_ drop spindles. In the picture, scoured wool is on the left, and flicked locks are on the right. I spin from the cut end.

I’ve been very MIA lately prepping for A Woolen Affair and working my day job. When I do have a bit of extra time, I get in my knitting and prepping some fleeces!

This pile of floof is from a CVM Romeldale sheep named Josie from @ebrfarm that I purchased last year. I’ve been trying to find the perfect project for this amazing fleece. Josie’s fleece will be spun up shortly and used for my #ProspectPullover test knit for @toriknitsnyc 🙂‍↕️. As soon as I saw the pullover, I knew this fleece would be perfect for it. I’m planning to do a 2 ply heavy DK woolen spun yarn!

Also, pictures do not do the squish factor of these batts justice.
