Wow! What a night of unforgettable live music.

@ajamonet left the packed audience at @maxwattsvenue speechless; @tenors_in_chaos, Stereo Champ and @misakiumei took a sold-out crowd on a journey through the vibrant world of Japanese jazz, and @bokanidyer Trio lit up the JazzLab with their high-voltage Afro-jazz.

It’s another hot-ticket night tonight, and Melbourne, you’re in for a treat! @tigranhamasyan performs to a sold-out @melbrecital crowd, while @oliviathevocalist and @matthewsheens launch their new album Putting It Together at @chapeloffchapel. Over at The JazzLab, @soodrums Trio brings its distinctive take on contemporary Korean jazz before @the_rookies_play_jazz finish the night off with our Late Night jams. After a change of scenery? Head to @albathermalsprings for an immersive jazz experience with the extraordinary @deankalait Trio.

Check out the daily schedule in our bio.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring my band (with Tyson Jackson and Alon Near) to Australia for Melbourne Jazz Festival and to Sydney for Sydney Improvised Music Association. I was honored to lead Young Monk International Edition in association with JALC at Melbourne Jazz Festival and Bunjil Place. Thank you Jason Olaine for trusting me to direct. The group is consisted of super talented young musicians Skylar Tang (trumpet), Toby Barrett (sax), Lily Appelt (bass) and Ebs Daramola (drums). Alon, Tyson and yours truly closed the trip at the Concourse Chatswood. We had an incredible time down under 😎 thank you Jordan Chung and SIMA for your hospitality and for bringing me to Sydney. Until next time 🙏🏾

Curated in partnership with New York’s iconic Jazz at Lincoln Center, our opening night double bill features two remarkable performances: Joey Alexander Trio, showcasing music from the pianist’s acclaimed latest album Celestial Keeper, and Young Monk, a hand-picked international ensemble celebrating the music of Thelonious Monk.

Feat. New York trumpeter Skylar Tang alongside some of Australia’s most exciting young jazz artists: Toby Barrett, Lily Appelt and Ebs Daramola.

Chatting with @barneymcall hot off his performance at @dingofestival !

@dingofestival being the tonic these dark times!

I really resonated with him saying we all have it in us, to dredge up that creative expression within ourselves.

Love his bluntness on “it’s like I have really low quality paints, but I try to make the most beautiful painting”! He made something incredible!

And finally for people learning or looking to further their music, to leverage your enthusiasm from playing, performing to others.

Also (for the older peeps) “Don’t try to play scales & sh*t.. that’s boring!!” 🙌🏽

After 4 long years, my magnum opus, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩, now belongs to you.

This album is the physical manifestation of my ancestors’ will, perseverance, wisdom, joy, and suffering brought into this realm, and it’s so surreal that I’m finally delivering it to you. I almost can’t believe it. I’m really lucky to know for a fact that my grandfather for whom this project is dedicated would’ve been immensely proud of it if he were still here. He literally would have made every single person in Barbados listen to it 🥀

Thank you to everyone who put their souls into this project over the years: @melaniecharlesisdflower, @miguelatwoodferguson, @supahmarioig, @jordyploy, @juliamoffa, @adamhershmusic, @josh2800, @dashidan, @patrick_arthur, @jermainepaul_, @myles_quatroquatro, @ebsola, @alexmansourmusic, @tristancappel, @nathankaymusic, @nickcranemusic, @yakivtsvietinskyi, @coleabowl, @sqr_grdn, @kyrahbassoon, @telemakus, @williamcorduroy, @gengis_don, @koloyolo_music_, @virgfm, @ceddyjay_, @whatsgoodzach, @becketcerny, @moffajm, @chrissorem, @conorrayne, @sp_samuelhpeters, @cumulus_frisbee
