Dear FLIGHT18 Community,

I sincerely hope this reaches you well. It’s been so long since our last communication, but what is time?

“I have secretly dreamed to sail a boat of which every nail or so would be a present, all labour done out of love. Think of the warm soul such a boat would have. But, it has to grow really out of voluntary love. Not money, love must be the ruler of the gifts for so alone will it be free and without strings to it.” Citizen of the World #1, George Dibbern wrote this to writer Henry Miller from an Internment Camp in New Zealand in 1945 as the Second World War wrapped.

Eighty years later, I believe that manifesting such a love boat is possible and more necessary than ever. Rejoice! You are on the list of central collaborators. You, who have been on board with FLIGHT18 over so many years, you lovers of life and liberty - we have already begun.

I am pleased to tell you that we are currently looking for a launch pad in New York City. Just in the Knick of time! We are joyously coming together to celebrate the first world citizen city, and the teamwork that makes our tenacious and audacious dream work, against all odds. Please let us know what you think.

Together, we are building a self-sustaining cooperative for people-powered space travel. Our SpaceportNow will soon be open 24/7, for 365 days a year, online and in-person. We will have a rotating schedule of FLIGHTs that will include many hours of dancing in the stars. See the schedule. Between voyages, there’ll be an open microphone at the ticketing counter. We’re going to connect, with each other, with the Earth, and the cosmos that we’re sailing in.

Now, we’re up to speed. We are joyfully in this together, holding up the unquenchable torch of liberty. The water well is open for all. It’s only a question of when we'll meet in the real world.

Please considering giving to our ship of love here.

As ever, patiently yours, with galactic gratitude,

Captain Wally

P.S. Manifesting the future takes time. I first dreamed this dream in the summer of 2002, and it took eight years just to find my first launch pad. It took insistence, perseverance, and patience.

This week, the Performing Arts Program wrapped up its partnership with the TDF Theater 101 program. Students participated in 4 workshops with TDF Teaching Artist @ebwally Wally Wallach and got to see "The Great Gatsby" on Broadway. Wally led students through the process of creating scenes based on themes from the show which brings a greater connection and understanding of how to create theater and better understand themselves through the process. We are so grateful to have this connection with theater professionals that can provide such an amazing opportunity for students!

If you want to live forever, let us hear your voice. If you let your authentic voice be heard, it’ll never die. Because it will live on in the people who got to experience it.

To Arlene. A speech and language pathologist. A Brooklyn cowboy. An honorary aunt and grandma and friend to many. 🫒🌭

I didn’t get to feel as integrated into my mom’s family growing up after she died. In my adult life I’ve gotten to revive that, but moving to California has made it hard once again.

Even tho I didn’t get to spend the time I wish I got, the times I had with Arlene were potent. My soul knew her. My cells knew her. Her humor was profound. The wit and spunk she had lit up a dinner table. There was heart in her words. She brought me in contact with Grandma Irene, Poppy Harold, and my mother Helene when we hugged, when I looked in her eyes… to the spirit of the Fein family that gathered in large numbers in East New York.

Here’s to letting your spirit be felt by others… to be generous in spirit. Let us hear your voice. We’ll keep it alive and amplified.
