🔥🦬 “HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT DECISION NOW?” 🦬🔥

Another powerful moment from our Bison Brothers Mother’s Day Episode came when Chip asked Moon and Jackie to reflect on a decision that changed their daughters’ journeys:

Choosing Howard.

And their answers went far beyond basketball. 🧡💙

Moon talked about knowing Howard was the right fit while still allowing her daughter to make her own decision — because, at the end of the day, it’s her life. She reflected on the growth, the challenges, and ultimately seeing that decision lead to an historic season.

Jackie shared what it meant to see her daughter reach a level of success at Howard that she had been hoping for at previous schools — while also being in an environment where she felt understood and able to truly express herself.

That’s what makes this moment so special.

It wasn’t simply:

“Did you make the right basketball decision?”

It was about:

❤️ Finding the right environment.
🌱 Growing into who you are.
🎓 Choosing a place that fits your life.
🏀 And seeing your child thrive because of that choice.

Sometimes the biggest victories happen long before you ever step onto the court.

🎙️ Watch the Mother’s Day Episode and hear Moon and Jackie tell the story in their own words.

🔥🦬 “WHY NOT SUPPORT THIS TEAM?” 🦬🔥

One of the most powerful moments from our Mother’s Day Episode came when Moon and Jackie were asked a simple question:

Why should people support Howard Women’s Basketball — and the 26K for 26 Wins fundraiser?

Their answer went WAY beyond basketball.

They talked about supporting the women who chose Howard, trusted Coach Ty and her staff, believed in the process, and helped create a historic season. 🧡💙

But they also reminded us that supporting this team means supporting something that doesn’t end when the players leave campus.

It’s about community.
It’s about opportunity.
It’s about investing in these young women and the program they represent.
It’s about showing up before everybody else jumps on the bandwagon. 🦬🔥

And Moon said it best:

“Why not?”

Why not support Howard?
Why not support these women?
Why not support the next generation?
Why not help push the 26K for 26 Wins campaign across the finish line?

🎯 26 WINS.
💰 26K GOAL.
🦬 ONE BISON NATION.

This conversation wasn’t just about a fundraiser.

It was a reminder that support is an action.

🎙️ Watch this powerful moment from the Bison Brothers Mother’s Day Episode and hear directly from the mothers about why they believe Bison Nation should get behind this team.

Meet the Panelist ✨

Introducing Ebonie Williams, General Manager and Chief of Basketball Operations at @howard_wbb.

Ebonie brings a unique blend of basketball leadership, player development, program building, and community impact to one of the nations best HBCU programs.

A Hagerstown, Maryland native, Williams established her basketball roots in the DMV at Notre Dame Academy, earning Washington Post All-Met recognition while helping lead the program to the No. 1 ranking in the DC area. She went on to earn All-BIG EAST honors at Seton Hall University before finishing her collegiate career at Washburn University, where she was a unanimous WBCA First Team All-American.

Following college, Williams signed her first professional contract to play in Iceland. After returning home in 2017, Williams began coaching at St. James School and has since spent nearly a decade building basketball opportunity throughout her community. Williams now brings her experience as a player, coach, entrepreneur, nonprofit founder, commissioner, and program builder back to the DMV with a clear purpose: to build people, strengthen programs, and create pathways for student-athletes to thrive on and beyond the court.

We’re excited to have Ebonie joining us for MWIS x Washington Mystics HBCU/D9 pregame event on September 24!

The Mother’s Day Episode is officially part of the Best of the Bison Brothers Basketball Podcast Playlist! 🎙️🏀

And this one is special because you didn’t have to be a basketball fan to appreciate it.

We sat down with the mothers of Howard women’s basketball players and got something bigger than basketball — PERSPECTIVE. WISDOM. LIFE LESSONS. ❤️

They talked about:

🏀 Supporting their daughters through their basketball journeys
🧠 Letting your children make their own decisions
🎯 Knowing your non-negotiables
💪 Taking accountability for your choices
❤️ Finding a place where you can unapologetically be yourself
🌱 Choosing environments where you can grow — on AND off the court

These were lessons that apply to EVERYBODY.

Parents.
Athletes.
Students.
Young professionals.
Anyone trying to figure out their next move in life.

Basketball was the backdrop. LIFE was the lesson.

That’s exactly what makes this conversation worthy of The Best of the Bison Brothers. 🏆

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Ruthann Monroe Summer Basketball League!

Thank you to all of the kids who participated, the parents, coaches, officials, volunteers, sponsors, DJs, vendors, and creators who helped make another great summer possible!

Thank you to the YMCA for allowing us to use the former Goretti gym. A special shoutout to the City of Hagerstown, including our Parks staff, HPD, and Mayor & Council, for the continued support.

And a BIG shoutout to EB Williams for successfully running another year of the league! So much of the work happens behind the scenes, but her vision, passion, and dedication, make this program possible.

Another summer in the books! 🏀💜
