35 curious middle schoolers (and their parents) from Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and nearby communities dove into hands-on STEM experiments with Engineering Council and WYSE at the recent STEMx event! Design challenges, demos from the Rube Goldberg Society and Steel Bridge Competition Team, and an engineering majors fair allowed for exploration, the development of new skills, and increased knowledge about pathways to STEM careers. 🚀🔬

SEM went out into the world a couple weeks ago! First, on Wednesday, we went to E-Night and finally made our debut into the world. Next, on Thursday, we presented in TAM 195. We're so happy to have met all of you, and we're so excited to see you all at our general meeting on September 16th! (More details in the next post.)

🚀 Last weekend, the NMSU Engineering Student Council hosted around 30 universities for the 2024 National Association of Engineering Student Councils' Engineering Leadership Summit.

🔍 Our attendees had the incredible opportunity to tour Spaceport America, White Sands Missile Range, and so much more, soaking in the rich technological and historical significance of these iconic sites.

🌵 Amidst these enlightening tours and workshops, participants immersed themselves in New Mexico's vibrant culture. They indulged in the flavors of our diverse cuisine, vibed to the rhythms of our music, and experienced firsthand the warmth of our unique engineering community.

🤝 They also had the privilege of hearing words of wisdom from Scott McLaughlin, executive director of Spaceport, executive board members of the NM Society of Professional Engineers, and Dr. Aravind Mannarswamy of Cummins Inc. Workshops led by Karios Powers and NMSBrew Professors provided invaluable insights and tools for collaboration and new skills, empowering attendees to strengthen their skills in leadership and hands-on hobbies.

🌟 Congratulations to our conference hosts Guillermo J-D Soltero, lead conference coordinator, Diego Chavez, logistics conference coordinator, and Janos Braun, financial conference coordinator along with our amazing engineering organizations that contributed to the success of this event. Together, let's continue to advance engineering excellence and foster a community of innovation and collaboration!

More pictures and videos coming soo! Stay tuned. 😁
