DESTIN VOLLEYBALL: It’s a breakthrough year for the Lady Sharks.

After years of promising season after promising season, Destin is making quite the splash in 2026. Under first-year head coach Dominic Fasula, Destin is 10-6 overall and 2-0 in district play, with all six losses coming against schools in Class 4A or larger.

The Lady Sharks are in position for not just a playoff berth, but very well could end up with the first home playoff game in Destin High School history.

“It’s been a special group to coach this year. They’ve really stepped up past couple of games, sky’s the limit for them, it’s a great opportunity to put Destin on the map,” Fasula said.

At the heart of it all is Citadel commit Kenzi Prosser. Prosser, a senior, has 234 kills and 193 digs on the year.

WEEK 6: Week 6 was a fun one to watch.

Niceville edged Tate 34-33 at home to move to 2-0 in district play and keep its hopes of extending a quarter-century playoff streak alive. South Walton took control of Class 3A, District 1 with a 28-20 homecoming win over Pine Forest, and Fort Walton Beach reached 2-0 in district play for the first time since 2007 with a 35-21 win over Gulf Breeze in an emotional night for the Vikings.

Choctaw rolled past Milton 43-15, Walton stayed undefeated with a 36-3 homecoming win over Freeport, and Baker improved to 4-2 with a road win at North Bay Haven. Destin also played the first district game in program history against Pensacola Catholic.

This morning, we gathered to pray over our world, our country, our school, our community, and the people God has placed around us. More than anything, we wanted to come before God together as one body of Christ and thank Him for all He has done! What a privilege it is to be able to gather in faith together!!

“Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:20 🤍

Abide in Him today:) we’ll see you next week

VOLLEYBALL: Whenever Choctaw and Fort Walton Beach meet , everything gets thrown out the window.

Thursday night at the Tee Pee was no exception, as Choctaw swept Fort Walton Beach (25-22, 25-19, 25-15) to complete a season sweep of its crosstown rival.

The Lady Indians didn’t allow the Lady Vikings to win a single set in two meetings this year, with the first matchup on Aug. 27 also ending in a Choctaw sweep.

However…it didn’t matter that Choctaw entered as an established Class 4A state title contender while Fort Walton Beach was looking for a statement win to officially enter the playoff conversation.

It didn’t matter that the Lady Indians were missing several players, headlined by Tishelle Bowles.

And it didn’t matter that both teams traded wild runs throughout the night.

Once again, “The Game” reigned supreme over Panhandle volleyball as the Lady Vikings and Lady Indians battled it out.

CHOCTAW: The stakes couldn’t have been higher for Choctaw. If the Indians wanted the opportunity to host multiple playoff games, they could not afford to start 0-3. They didn’t, defeating Pace 21-14 in an absolute grindfest of a contest.

“The way we won, battled back and forth, it’s always difficult to come to Pace and win, super physical game, super proud of our guys,” Choctaw Head Coach Frank Beasley said.

Carter Marracco scored two touchdowns and Amir Reese hauled in a go-ahead score.

“I wanted to win. I didn’t want to lose again,” Reese said. “I knew when I went out there, my QB Baker was out there. I knew he wanted to throw me the ball, so I was ready for a pass. So I made a play and got us the win.”

“That was the greatest catch I’ve seen in a minute,” Marracco added.

CHOCTAW FOOTBALL: Choctaw went toe-to-toe with No. 6-ranked Auburn, a Class 6A program out of Alabama, in a 31-21 loss at Joe Etheredge Stadium.

The Indians showed significant improvement from their Week 1 outing at Mosley, with Carter Marracco providing the big plays, including a 62-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter, and Isaiah Collins showing promise at quarterback, connecting with Brody Combs for a touchdown in the second half. Choctaw pulled within one score twice in the second half, but Auburn answered each time.

“We’ve gotten better each week in a lot of different areas,” Choctaw Head Coach Frank Beasley said. “When you’re playing high-caliber opponents like we’ve been playing, you don’t really have time to hone in on the things you really need to get, but these are the kinds of games that get us ready for the ones down the season.”
