My first playlist ever featuring two bands with Delirium in the name… Before I drone on about escapism again, here comes the very outspoken, very 2026 playlist for tonight’s radio FM4 Heartbeat, on air and stream from 22:00 CET / 9pm GMT where an exiled Lebanese in Berlin (Charif Megarbane) is rubbing shoulders with one American seriously digging into UnAmerican folk music from Afghanistan (Marisa Anderson) and another one (Jesca Hoop) contemplating what happens to those growing up in the rubble left by the bombs, followed by Lisa Obereder’s song about how to have good thoughts in a world of bad faith while a couple of young Austrian men sing about (their?) terrible fathers (eckstein). All this and some social realism from Rochester (Little Storping in the Swuff), tributes to the late Beverley Martyn (pictured) and Dave Mason and a few other ones that are mostly just good tunes. Hope you like!

Beverley - Where The Good Times Are
Ali & Charif Megarbane- Abaday
Maxwell Farrington & Le SuperHomard (feat. Lily Buchanan) - Fish and Chips
Little Storping in the Swuff - Competitive Domestic
Graham Coxon - Billy Says
Simon Love - (feels funny) But I’m Getting Used To It / vera lynn
Gardens - Talk

The Hanging Stars - All Your Yesterdays
Royal Diving Academy - Royal Diving Academy
Francis of Delirium - Requiem for a Dying Day
Ed O’Brien - Blue Morpho

Marisa Anderson - Quodlibet
Aldous Harding - Venus in the Zinnia
Traffic - Hole in my Shoe
The Afterword - An Illusion

The Claypool Lennon Delirium - WAP (What a Predicament)
Lorelle Meets the Obsolete - Progreso
Tucker Zimmerman - Sun in Scorpio
BMX Bandits - Unbreakable Heart
Sage Darley - White Sun
Chris Brain - Kinds of Kindness
eckstein - Tyrann
Broken Social Scene - Only The Good I Keep

Tonight’s radio FM4 Heartbeat show from 22.00 CET aka 9pm GMT again profits from the lucky coincidence of living in a world where nice, smart and creative humans choose to make music (I was almost going to write “for a living”, but quickly stopped myself). Some of you lot should go into politics, though that’d be a shame as well.
The show comes with a tribute to the late Asha Bhosle (pictured). Not that I feel qualified, but her music and its appreciation crossed my musical universe too often to ignore her leaving us last week.
Here’s the list, hope you like:

Massive Attack x Tom Waits - Boots on the Ground
Jesca Hoop - Designer Citizen
Topsy Turvy - Live Laugh Love
Maxwell Farrington & Le SuperHomard (feat. Lily Buchanan) - Do da da da
Holli - Eins
The Lemon Twigs - 2 or 3
Mick Harvey & Amanda Acevedo - Cover Me with Roses
Adam Ross - I Never Thought You Couldn’t Not
Gardens - Mailbox
The BVs - Breakdown (damage & joy lofi remix)
Manuela - Regrets
ER Jurken - Morning Paper
Little Storping in the Swuff - Competitive Domestic
Flora - Idiots & Angels
frog - Lois Lane
Bernhard Schnur - Embarrassing Paul
Cornershop - Brimful of Asha
Asha Bhosle, Swapan Chaudhuri & Ali Akhbar Khan - Tarana In Adana
Gorillaz (feat. Asha Bhosle, Gruff Rhys, Ajay Prasanna, Amaan Ali Bangash & Ayaan Ali Bangash) - The Shadowy Light
Andrew Wasylyk (feat. Gruff Rhys) - The Cold Collar
Mildred - Fenceline
Luci Trio - Substral
eckstein - Zinnober
Angelo De Augustine - The Cure
Chip Taylor - To See Me Smiling
Jackie West - Overlooking Glass
Diana Darby - We Are Free
Sage Darley - Laurel Tree
The Leaf Library - A Ship In The Sky

🍋👺👺 𝟭 𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗞’𝗡’𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗟 𝗗𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗢𝗡 👺👺🍋

for those who are not coming to our next show, because 𝗟𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗕 are in the castle! Joined by 𝗲𝗰𝗸𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 and we're celebrating the world debut by 𝗞𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝟭𝟮 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 🏎️⚡️ First time at Club Lucia as well!

It's the 8th wonder of the world that Lemomgrab haven't been part of one of our shows yet, because they tick all the right boxes of the things we love 🫶 Originally founded in Montréal, the band has been based in Berlin since 2020 and has been shaking up the European punk scene since 2020. Cathartic, energetic art punk somewhere between the Stooges, The Clean and Bikini Kill. And a menace to see live 🦖

eckstein is a duo consisting of Hagen Eckstein and Jannik Rieß. Their music leans towards the darker side of German-language post-punk. With a certain dash of youthful energy and vocal intensity, the two nevertheless manage to avoid coming across as a nostalgia project, but rather as a contemporary document of everyday poetry, sometimes melancholic and dreamy, sometimes brutal. Live with band line-up 💫

Kevin 12 Volt and the Chargers is the first show of the solo project of (in our opinion) Big Boss Playa Kevin Namiotko aka DJ Gusch aka Friend 🫶 Together with his backing band “The Chargers”, they’ll deliver fiery ROCK MUSIC right into your brain 🗣️

Poster by super duper artist Jakob Hörnig from Leipzig 🫶 @jakobantonhoernig thank youuu
