We were delighted to welcome former Olympic skier Chemmy Alcott to school today for an inspiring visit. From competing at four Winter Olympics to presenting on BBC Ski Sunday, Chemmy shared powerful lessons about resilience, courage and making the most of every opportunity. Her message to pupils was simple: work hard, embrace challenges and never be afraid of those “butterflies” in your stomach. As Chemmy explained, they’re your body’s way of cheering you on to try something new! 💙 The children also learned about climate change through Chemmy’s experiences in the mountains and enjoyed asking thoughtful questions about life as an Olympian. Thank you, Chemmy, for such an unforgettable visit. ⛷️✨ #Inspiration #Olympian #GrowthMindset #SchoolLife #ChemmyAlcott

LISTEN UP!! Your body just simply exists, nothing more, nothing less. I’d be lying if I said I never wanted my body to look a certain way. I think that’s inevitable with everything that society throws at us. With that said, your body’s sole purpose isn’t to just be looked at and receive compliments on its physical appearance. It does so much more for you. It carries you around the world, allows you to do your favourite hobbies, spend time with your friends & family, challenge yourself in ways you never thought you would, and ultimately become the best version of yourself overall. I’m so impressed with myself whenever I overcome a fear/challenge or every time I manage to summit a mountain no matter what my body looked like. Because that’s the least interesting thing about me. It just simply exists! 🤍 #sport #body #outdoors #ski #hiking

Pre-season ski anxiety has entered the chat 😂⛷️ If you’re already wondering whether you’ve forgotten everything you learnt last season, I promise you’re not the only one. I learnt to ski at 32, spent a LOT of time overthinking absolutely everything, had plenty of meltdowns, took a lot of lessons… and somewhere along the way, became a pretty confident skier. So if you’re learning as an adult, trying to build your confidence or just want to see skiing from someone who remembers exactly what it felt like to find all of this terrifying… You’re in the right place 🤍⛷️ #learningtoski #beginnerski #skiing #skiconfidence

What a beautiful thing it is to feel powerful in what your body can achieve 💪 I love challenging what my body (and mind) can do, especially in skiing! ⛷️ I used to stay in my comfort zone, and I’ve been pushing myself more in the last few years. I wish I could ski with people who are better than me, so that I can learn from them and get pushed out of my comfort zone more often, cause doing it for yourself isn’t quite the same as other people telling you to SEND IT! 😌 📸: @insta360 @insta360snow X3 🎿: @head_ski 🏔️: @skibigwhite #ski #outdoors #skiing #sport #mountains

Signed up for the AJ Bell 3 Valley Rally with Team Girl Powder…..me, Laura, Eve and Emily in support of @snowcampcharity I thought it was going to be a fun easy ski event. Errrrr not Day one was basically a mountain-wide scavenger hunt in a complete whiteout. 60+ checkpoints across the 3 Valleys, skiing to each one and taking a selfie as proof and all before the 5pm cut-off. Yikes. There were moments you couldn’t see a thing. (On a black run 🫣) We just kept going and hoped for the best. Then came the timed challenges….(no time for a toilet break btw ) Zip wires, three of them, and if you missed your timed slot you were hit with penalties. (Harsh !) Then the biathlon. 10 targets to hit, under pressure. I genuinely thought I’d lost it because I couldn’t see a single one…turns out the rifle was packed with snow…. I mean 😤 Day two didn’t ease up either. Distance challenge with trackers on, covering as much ground as possible across the mountains. (Omg I loved it. Basically you ski as fast as you can without any stopping. My kinda skiing frankly) Then straight into the slalom. And suddenly… I cared a lot more than I expected. Good old competitive ski legs were on. And jeeez I loved it. (Shame we had to race against some Olympians ) Oh dear…..so much fun. It wasn’t smooth. It wasn’t easy. And it definitely wasn’t just a “ski weekend.” But it was one of those experiences you don’t forget, the adrenaline, the chaos, the people and a fabulous 80s party. And the reason behind it all, raising money for @snowcampcharity made it feel like something much bigger. Thank you my fabulous BBC colleagues @chemmyski @tim_warwood @jennyjonessnow @skigrahambell Also to @girlpowderretreats @skiclubgb for believing in me. To hilarious @snowcamp_mums_on_the_run @adventuresofthewests @thatslaplagne @snowfinelskiwear (Louise we missed you) @laradunnconsults @iamdankeeley for endless energy and so many new friends I couldn’t tag in this. Thank you for the laughs. 👉 Comment RALLY if you need more info.
