A ground-breaking climate education initiative aimed at fostering action on climate change in Nigeria

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I did a thing in Lagos State 💃💃💃💃

Before NYSC, I wanted to become a national honouree.

50+ reiection emails later, I got funding.

In 2023, we ran a pilot in Ilorin, Kwara State. I made some mistakes and I learnt from it.

In 2025, we organised the first cohort in Abuja. 14 Fellows, 11 Capstone projects, 635 children and youths impacted, 2000+households reached, 3 tons of C02 emissions saved through climate-conscious behaviour.

The physical workshop for the second cohort was held in Lagos state over the weekend, and I am learning a lot about scaling from this one.

To the mentor who encouraged me to scale, thank you, ma!

To the team at @Eco-Learn Nigeria, who carried my vision like theirs and birthed it as intended, thank you!

To our facilitators who showed up to pour into our participants, thank you!

To our participants, they are willing to learn and passionate about making impact impact.

To the vendors who delivered timely and excellent services, thank you!

Raising the flag for the Sustainable Development Goals 🌍

Yesterday, we marked SDG Flag Day with @ecolearnnigeria, bringing educators and young people together to learn, exchange ideas and reflect on what it takes to build a fairer, greener and more inclusive future.

The conversation was a reminder that young people are not just part of the future, but an important part of the conversation today.

Creating spaces to listen, learn and engage with young voices matters.

How did you mark SDG Flag Day?

🌍🚩 RAISE THE FLAG FOR THE SDGs! 🚩🌍

Today was an inspiring and insightful moment as we joined the Raise the Flag for the SDGs programme, organized by ECO-LEARN NIGERIA in collaboration with the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

It was a remarkable gathering that brought together students, teachers, district desk officers, and the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, united by a shared commitment to advancing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The programme provided a valuable platform for learning, meaningful conversations, collaboration, and reflection on how we can all contribute to building a more sustainable, inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous world.

As educators and young people, we are reminded that achieving the SDGs is not the responsibility of one person, organisation, or government—it is a collective responsibility. Every action counts, every voice matters, and every positive change brings us closer to the future we envision. 🌱🌍

Together, let us raise the flag, raise awareness, raise our voices, and take action for the SDGs! 🚩💚

APPRECIATION

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made today’s cross-country youth conversation between Kenya Ni Mimi and Ecolearn Nigeria a truly inspiring and impactful experience.

The webinar was a powerful reminder that although young people across Africa may live in different contexts, our aspirations remain deeply connected. We all desire to grow, create meaningful impact, build resilient communities, protect our environment, and contribute to a better future.

I sincerely appreciate the organizers- ECO-LEARN NIGERIA, the speakers (Ms Sharon and Ms Olayinka), facilitator (Mr. Kayode), and every young changemaker who shared their voice, ideas, experiences, and perspectives. Your contributions made the conversation rich, practical, and inspiring.

Again, Special appreciation to Kenya Ni Mimi and Ecolearn Nigeria for creating this important platform for African youth to connect, learn from one another, and turn shared aspirations into shared action.

Today’s conversation has shown us that our different realities should not divide us—they can become a source of learning, innovation, collaboration, and strength.
DESPITE our different backgrounds, culture and challenges; our common goal is the ability to sustain.
Sustainability is our common aspiration.

Different Contexts. Common Aspirations. Shared Action. 🇳🇬🤝🇰🇪🌍

Thank you for giving young people a space to be heard, to connect across borders, and to imagine—and actively build—the Africa we want.

Africa’s future is in our hands, and together, we can make it brighter. 💚🌱

Chepkoech Sharon (Nairobi) brings three years building real solutions, clean cooking, sustainable energy, climate action that sticks.

Two African women. Two approaches. One urgent conversation on how young people are reshaping Africa’s climate future.

Youth climate resilience doesn't look the same in Nigeria as it does in Kenya. But the pressure does.

Next Thursday, we're partnering with Ecolearn Nigeria for a conversation on what climate adaptation actually means across African contexts and what young people are building to respond.

Speakers: Olayinka Kuku (Lawyer, Research & Development at TTG) and Chepkoech Sharon (Climate Change Expert).

Different contexts. Same urgency. If you're thinking about how young people respond to climate pressure this one's for you.

Thursday 27th August, 12 noon WAT/ 2 pm EAT on Google Meet.

A Milestone in Climate and SDG Action 🌍💚

I am delighted to share that in June 2026, I participated in the QS Impact Global Day of Action 2026, an inspiring experience focused on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Together with students, we explored SDG games, indoor learning activities, outdoor actions, and practical ways to turn sustainability ideas into meaningful action.

I am grateful to have received a Certificate of Participation/Recognition for this impactful experience. 🏆🌱

Every action counts. Every young mind matters. Together, we can create a more sustainable future! 🌍✨

🌱 Young Minds, Green Solutions

Introduction

Our environment is important because it provides us with clean air, water, and a safe place to live and learn. As young people, we can help protect it by taking simple actions in our school and community.

Environmental Problem: Plastic Waste

One major problem in my school and community is plastic waste. Plastic bottles, nylon bags, and food wrappers are often thrown on the ground. This makes the environment dirty, blocks drainage systems, and can cause flooding when it rains. It can also harm animals and pollute our surroundings.

Practical Solution

Young people can organise a clean-up and recycling campaign. We can place labelled waste bins around the school, collect plastic bottles for recycling, and encourage students to use reusable water bottles. We can also educate others through assembly presentations and short talks about the importance of keeping the environment clean.

Conclusion

If every young person takes responsibility and encourages others to do the same, we can reduce plastic waste and create a cleaner, healthier, safer, and greener school and community. 🌍💚

HELLO EVERYONE! 🌍✨

Happy International Youth Day 2026! 🎉

Today was a truly meaningful and inspiring day as I had the privilege of participating in the Just Transition Global Dialogues – Lagos Policy Dialogue.

It wasn’t just a sit-and-listen kind of day. I was honoured to be a voice for Nigerian youths in an important conversation on Just Transition and what it means for young people and our future.

I had the opportunity to engage with young leaders, policymakers, innovators, and stakeholders from the energy, economics, and youth development sectors.

Together, we explored what a truly inclusive and people-centred Just Transition should look like — considering energy, economic opportunities, gender inclusion, youth participation, and sustainable development.

What made the experience even more special was knowing that our voices were not just heard; they contributed to shaping a Lagos Youth Policy Brief that will carry the perspectives and aspirations of young Nigerians forward.

I am grateful for the opportunity to learn, contribute, connect, and most importantly, to be part of a conversation that places young people at the heart of decisions that affect our future.

Our voices matter. Our ideas matter. Our participation matters. And our future is worth shaping. 🌱💚

Happy International Youth Day!
