QUIET ON THE FARM! Sometimes you gotta dig into that magic toolbox and pull out something the kids already know. We flipped this song, made it work for the farm, and listened…IT WORKED! Even the chicken knew what time it was. Sometimes you just gotta meet the kids where they are. Let’s go! MEE Camp 2027 Interest Form is NOW LIVE! BEE SWARM! Before our Explorers got up close and personal with Mr. Charles and the bees, we had to get HYPED! We kicked off the morning with the Waggle Dance, the dance honeybees use inside the hive to communicate where the good stuff is! And out of our crew of 22 Explorers and 4 young interns, River understood the assignment! She was hands down the most HYPE, so of course I had to treat her to something special later at Dreaming Out Loud’s Marion Barry Market & Cafe. Dance with the bees. Learn from the bees. Get inside the hive. Just another day at Melanated Earthling Explorers Camp. WE BEE WINNING! #MelanatedEarthlingExplorers #BeezInTheTrap #WaggleDance #BeekeepingWithKids #BlackKidsInNature

WE’RE BACK! The 4th Annual Melanated Earthling Explorers Summer Camp is officially underway! We welcomed 22 amazing young explorers to Steptoe Farm, and Day 1 was already one for the books. We got up close with over 200 chickens, learned about eggs and boiled our own, then jumped into Cookin’ with Fred and created a kid-friendly recipe inspired by the legendary Edna Lewis, and the kids LOVED IT! Then it was time for a little STEM with an Egg Parachute with Ms. May And how did we finish the day? A WATER FIGHT... followed by Mother Nature joining in with some rain of her own! Day 1 was learning, cooking, STEM, farming, laughing, getting wet and just letting kids be kids. And we’re just getting started. Welcome to MEE CAMP 2026! #MelanatedEarthlingExplorers #MEECamp our#SteptoeFarm #OutdoorLearning BlackKidsInNature

It’s not officially camp season until the tees drop! This year we’re pulling up in fresh white, paying homage to AIR, the element of movement, breath, and non-stop dynamic energy. Time to catch a vibe, clear our lungs, and take in that fresh air at Steptoe Farm in partnership with @doldc and @theednalewisfoundation and @theyouthfishingleague and many more that is helping make this happen! YEAR 4 IS ALMOST HERE! Who’s ready?! #MEECAMP #air #blackkidsoutside #weready

Black Joy moment As MEE Camp is about to kick off, more goodness keeps pouring in from the media! Huge thank you to @readblackjoy for highlighting this special throwback from our very first year with Aryon. He was only 3 years old here, and next week, he’s joining us for his fourth year in a row! Seeing the real, lasting impact we’re making with this camp means everything to me. Consistency is key to everything I do, and this is proof. So excited for what’s coming next week! #MEECamp #BlackJoy #CommunityImpact #RepresentationMatters #YouthEmpowerment
