I promise this is gonna be a good time.

@urbanworldff is THE largest Academy Award qualifying Black & multicultural film festival in the world and this year's chosen films are a testimant to the fest's dopeness. In my block alone there are films featuring Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def), Senator Tammy Duckworth and a merman. I like to think the Burden was chosen for this block because it's a little bit political, a lotta fantasy/sci-fi and most definitely (see what I did there?)packs some hip hop.

Short Block 6. (6 represents happiness and blessings. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.)

My first time working on a film was in November 2022 and I was so lucky to be a part of this team!

@theburdenfilm has a powerful message with comedic overtones and was created by such kind, diverse, and talented people!

That’s a wrap on STARBORN! Thank you so much to my fantastic cast and crew who made the filming of this short such a fantastic experience. It wasn’t the original plan to shoot at 9 months pregnant, but I’m so glad that I was able to prove to myself I could do it. I can’t wait to show my daughter photos from the shoot one day so that she knows women can do anything - especially with the support of their community. Special thanks to my cinematographer/baby daddy @ericulbrich for keeping me fed, hydrated, and sane all while creating amazing imagery, and to producer @ironwolfsara for making the shoot run so smoothly. Can’t wait to share this special film with the world!
