𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗘 - Working with @monocouche_render_systems_ltd

As part of the wider refurbishment of the ‘Artists House’ project, the external envelope was reworked using a monocouche render system to bring greater consistency and clarity to the existing façade.

The application required close coordination around existing architectural details, new openings and material junctions, ensuring a clean and durable finish that sits comfortably within the character of the house.

Delivered in collaboration with @monocouche_render_systems whose knowledge and attention throughout the process made them a pleasure to work alongside.

𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 for the Artists House project in Hampstead Heath

The external spaces follow the same approach as the house, focused on detailing, durability and a commitment to sustainability.

Set within a tree protection zone, the garden pods were designed with minimal intervention in mind, ensuring no impact on existing root systems.

@ecospacestudios were appointed to deliver a series of garden studios, providing flexible workspace integrated into the landscape.

A tour of the exterior spaces, where sustainability informs both layout and detailing.

A deeper dive into the Artist’s House ✨Some of the most impactful spaces of the redesign included the Pottery Studio, Gym, and Office.

The study was transformed with a new glass extension, introducing more space and natural light. With the garden wrapping around the room, the workspace now feels truly connected to the outdoors.

A beautifully landscaped walkway now links the Study, Pottery Studio, and Gym — an intentional, visual journey between work, making, and wellbeing.

Both the Pottery Studio and Gym were newly designed garden pods. Overlooking Hampstead Heath 🌿, they were constructed using a Helifix micropile system to protect existing tree roots and delivered in collaboration with @ecospacestudios

“An Artists House” - Sustainable Edition ♻️🌎

Overlooking Hampstead Heath, this home brings together creativity and conscious design. Every decision reflects a commitment to sustainability without compromise on beauty or luxury.

B&D also commissioned the garden pods with a specific instruction not to damage the tree roots because the property is in a tree protection zone using @ecospacestudios We used a technically advanced system of a Helifix Micropile system which provided structural support to the foundation of the pod without damaging the tree roots. 🌳

“An Artists House” overlooking Hampstead Heath by @bascombdrew

This project was such a joy to work on. We were contracted to manage the full refurbishment of the ground & 1st floors along with the garden and external spaces of the property.

There is so much to say about this project so we’ll be doing a DEEP DIVE over the next few months, exploring the finer details and choices we made during the renovation process for each living space.

A big thank you to our incredible team, suppliers and collaborators who helped bring this project to life.

A very slow Sunday with lots of spaghetti and plenty of aperol (but we don’t need the sun to shine to drink that in this house).

It feels good to be back eating outside and I can’t wait to share more from this very special garden, my happy place 🌿

🏡 Ecospace buildings can be used both as home offices and houses, since there is enough 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻.
.
🛠️ Their typical standard buildings 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲; no treatment and no re-decoration to any external or internal walls.
.
♻️ They can even integrate 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 including photovoltaic solar panels, ground & air source heat pumps, wind turbines, biomass boilers and log burning stoves.
.
🌳 Ecospace buildings are made mainly from 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀. Their off-site production improves quality control, efficiency and eliminates waste through recycling. What’s more, Ecospaces are designed to maximize energy efficiency with high insulation values.
