🔥📸METAL BATTLE AFRICA FINALS 📸🔥 || @wmbafrica.official x @sognage x @emalythevents || 06/06/2026

Some final shots from the Metal Battle Africa finals which took place in June🔥🤘🏻 What an all around vibe this whole show was!
For the final bands, we had THE FALLEN PROPHETS all the way from CPT🖤🔥as well as the epic CHOVU from Kenya🔥 CHOVU really gave us a treat of a performance (how could it not be awesome with a crowdsurfing baby?)👶🏻 Following on that insanity with even more insanity - DIVERTED DISORDER💥🖤 These jhb homies know how to get a room moving! After DD, we had the ultimate performance from the legends 💜🔥HUMAN NEBULAAA🔥💜 (who gave us such a kickass show at Wacken in Germany! Which by the way, if you weren't watching the live stream what were you even doingggg?)🔥 And last (but certainly not least), all the way from Mozambique 🔥ECTOGENESIS🔥 My flabber was gasted with the next level skill coming from these guys, with absolute insane vocals and a really good talent for multitasking (if you weren't at the show, please do yourself a favour and just go check out all these bands. You will not be sorry and your playlist will go 10x harder too😏🤘🏻)

Banda Moçambicana Ectogenesis menciona o MICMZ no Africa Rocks

The fourth issue of the AFRICA.ROCKS Digital Magazine will be available on ZINIO next Tuesday, 15 September.

This new edition features @takaat_ (Niger), @vulvodyniaofficial (South Africa), @sina_kienou (Burkina Faso), @ectogenesis__ (Mozambique) and more artists from across the continent.

The magazine exists to document African rock and metal properly, in one place and in a format that can be kept, revisited and shared. Buying an issue directly supports that work and helps us keep producing the magazine, commissioning content and covering the scene.

At the same time, as many of you will already have noticed, most of the content eventually appears online for free. That is intentional. We believe that documenting a scene also means making that documentation accessible. Supporting the magazine helps us do the work, but access to the stories themselves should not depend entirely on whether someone can afford to buy an issue.

Issue #4 arrives Tuesday on ZINIO with support from @southernsoundclash

When I saw a Alice Cooper vinyl on my Dad's collection, that's when I knew music is all about taste and the experience with it.

I'm so glad I got to know the moz metal movement exists. May have come in while a lot has already happened but one thing is for sure it is growing.

From #darknecropolis to @thelostgrave to @ectogenesis__ to many mozambique talents and people such as @stinolas @damningxambruka that showcase what they have to give for connection, we got to meet amazing people @j.duplessis @lanakepana @heyitsdana.ds @chels_larsen @larsenalec to mention a few.

And the bands I got to see live in a place that is always our home @gilvicente.cafebar, the fans that I was already friends with @undead_miggi @regularpanda @alkar_tar @jessica_lorenaah in diferent universes such as cosplay, fashion or graphic design.

Can't be more thankful for living this moment.

May more shows, crazy moments, growth on economic creativity and music happen with more frequency!

It is all about connection and having a great time 🤟🏽

What an absolute HONOUR to play one of our hottest, sweatiest and raddest shows ever, on our first international tour, with the most legendary humans in the crowd! 🔥❤️ A night and experience that is still fresh in our minds and hearts, and will always be a defining moment for our band for reasons both on and off the stage! 🥲🤝

Massive shoutout to our new Mozambican pals @ectogenesis__ and @thelostgrave for letting us jam with you on your home turf, and to our South African homies @hilliker.slamz and @yourcynicalsanity for being the BEST tour pals ever!!

What a journey that just started. What was just an idea became a place where people were interacting, learning, taking a big risk and most importantly taking a huge step to put some light on our professions. What we do for a living, for the entertainment, knowledge and cultural enrichment of Mozambique.

And besides this person named @mucaveleamosse which we kindly call each other boss, knowing @rodrigoacostalima made a huge diference as well seeing how the world can change if we act together a d in collaboration.

@mrdezaina a espera do meu shake hehehe.

I got introduced to an awakening of responsibility that was already on me that needed a push.

I never have done curatoring work before, but I have been to events, museums, festivals, exhibitions. It's time!

Got to meet new people so I could communicate the vision of MICMZ. It was a pleasure being at your radio show @cotelaberni

Padrinho do coração.
