Congratulations to Literacy Education Professors Dr. Anne Ticknor and Dr. Christy Howard, and coauthor Dr. Jennifer McKinnon, on their latest publication! 🎉
“‘Literacy is Everywhere!’ Bringing Alive History in a Place-Based Professional Development on Saipan” shares findings from a National Endowment for the Humanities–funded program that brought K-12 educators to Saipan to explore the island’s history and Indigenous storytelling traditions through a place-based lens, with the goal of helping teachers bring history alive through literacy back in their own classrooms.

Leadership starts with a commitment to serving others!

The ECU College of Education is proud to recognize our 2026–2027 Truist Education Leadership Team (TELT)! Made possible through our partnership with Truist, this group of student leaders is dedicated to strengthening the student experience, encouraging involvement and creating opportunities for their peers in the Education Community of Scholars and North Carolina Teaching Fellows programs.

We are excited to see the impact these future educators will make throughout the academic year and are grateful for their commitment to leadership, service and student success.

Proud, passionate, collaborating, thriving — together.

PreK–12 teachers and #ECU faculty members met in the Teaching Resources Center for their first in-person session as the Computer Science Integration Professional Learning Community. It was a great start for the group, with a lot of enjoyment, collaborating, exchanging of ideas and quality conversations about computer science in education. Thanks to Joyner Library for hosting and leadership of the CS4All@ECU team Drs. Ruby Yeh, Kristen Gregory, Ken Luterbach and Crisianee Berry, and liaison Beth Madigan.
