As August comes to an end today. We look back at the work we were able to do for the kids in our community this month. Art is important and should be well funded and kept alive for children to practice and experience. We've done the research, we've spoken to kids and parents. Children around Nigeria are slowly losing access to practical arts. Many of the children who worked with us were only painting, colouring or touching a paint brush for the first time in their lives. These are 12 year olds, 10 year olds and even early years. This is alarming and should be spoken about more.
Who dreams imagines the future and puts it on paper for everyone to see? Children who are able to create and have the opportunity and tools to.

Super thankful to everyone who donated to make this a success.🤍

Follow @neuroboxxedu to see how you can be part of our mission.

In Nigeria, a number of schools around the country have removed practical fine and applied arts from the curriculum. This August we held a free workshop with the kids in our community to advocate to keep the arts in schools. Not just in theory but in practice. We have heard about the "olodo uprising", how can we complain about our future whilst refusing to nurture the minds of the ones who would dream it. We believe that if there's a future for a country then the minds of the children must be free to imagine and create. For Nigeria, We believe that Art Will Save Us.
🇳🇬

To quote the president

"A creative mind is a fertile land for growth"

We must begin to see these changes in our schools.

Documentation is such an important job for an artist but still also very daunting. Ultimately, If you don't document then it never really happened.

Hanging my apron for the year and I've had to leave it late too! Spent most of the holiday in the studio begging for a break. But art must be art and creatives must create. Finally able to put down my brush and usher in the new year. A year I really hope is one of recovery, rest and purposeful work. To everyone that's followed my art, held my hand.. family, friends, business partners, collectors.. Here's to 2024🥂

We owe it to God to be the greatest versions of ourselves. That said, I am in a constant race against myself with full reverence to those who have run before me.

This holiday season, we're honing in on the arts at our STEAM Camp. As part of our advocacy, we're using our Artsy August to give children in our community an exciting opportunity to discover their creative genius through play and creative artistic expression.

With the current cognitive decline in our communities, we've identified that while core subjects are being taught and pushed for children, the arts have become sidelined or seen as less important. We believe "Art Will Save Us."

Research has shown in a study that people who started businesses and contributed to patent applications that made a difference were more likely than their peers to have leisure hobbies that involved drawing, painting, sculpture, and literature—with success odds as high as 22x.

Art provides a unique breadth and perspective that teaches the mind to find out-of-the-box solutions in everyday life. If we continue to treat something as vital as art as ordinary, it is little wonder we see a society that continues to lack depth and openness to the world around it.

This holiday season, we are partnering with @ecwstudios , a creative studio that believes in everything we do, to give children the artistic depth they need to keep going! Through play and creative expression, we are empowering children in our community and society at large to discover their inner creative genius.

Sometimes, to rest is the most creative thing an artist can do.. try not to feel guilty about it. If God rested, so should you!🪴

"for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." Hebrews 4:10 NIV

Happy New Year 🙌🏾
