Earlier this month, the SEO-friendly ‘50 Top Pizza World 2026 Awards’ announced it had a new winner — Napoli on the Road, in Chiswick, which jumped to the top spot ahead of entrants from New York, Milan, Caserta, Rome, and Naples. The column inches devoted to this news are perhaps an indicator of where London’s food culture lies at the moment — caught between a list-loving, big-eating, fast-scrolling social media habit on the one hand; and on the other, a brutal economic climate where the one foodstuff cheap enough to have a 95% gross profit margin becomes an attractive option for both owners and customers. Or perhaps pizza’s just pretty delicious.

And so, in celebration that London is now sort of officially the best pizza city in the world, we asked five knowledgeable pals for their favourite spots in the capital.

Well, that was a doozy!

Hugest thanks to all those who joined us last week, as we welcomed Jeremy’s new book ‘Kitchening’ into the world.

In more fabulous news, we have signed copies available to buy at reception. 🧈🥣

Last week, we invited friends, contributors and collaborators to Crispin for a long table lunch to celebrate the launch of SLOP 11: The River Issue.

The support we’ve had from everyone at that table has gone a huge way to keeping SLOP going for the last 11 issues. It was a real pleasure to have all those people in one place.

The lunch was supported by our good friends at @tebi_os with some very special bottles courtesy of @newcomer_wines, including bottles from producers we went to visit for the most recent issue.

@crispin_london were, as always, the consummate hosts, whipping up an incredible lunch with wonderful produce from our great friends at @shrub.london.

The River Issue is available now from all your favourite stockists or via our website at slopmagazine.com with international shipping available.

I’ve met Margot & Fergus many times over the years so was dead happy to be asked to go have lunch & make pictures with the rest of the family. A joyful and delicious one as you can imagine. Thank you both and Frances, Owen & Hector too for making me feel so welcome and feeding me so well! Rolled home.
Thanks Andy Greenacre for sending me.
