Mardi Gras 2025: This Mardi Gras season can be summed up in one word, MAGICAL!

I was skeptical about this Mardi Gras because this is my first time in 9 years working home during the Carnival season.

In the past I’ve been able to take vacation, come home and enjoy it, but I had to work, and still that didn’t stop me.

I was able to fulfill my Zulu duties, attend Krewe parties, ride in a parade, hit up Lundi Gras and even caught a Muses shoe.

It was an honor of a lifetime to serve as a King Symphony VIII’s Attendant. That experience alone made this season worth it and I would do it all over again. Thank you so much @durell_da_r3b3l for allowing me to serve in your court.

I also got to emcee for King Oshun @marloooo._ as he reigned with his beautiful Queen!

The highlight, riding in Zulu with coverage on WDSU. If you know me, you know I love majorettes and I’ve always been fascinated by @mcd35majorettes uniform. It was a blast to create a costume that honored their tradition!

I am still on cloud 9 from the long season, but if I could do it again tomorrow, I would!

I really Mardi Gras like I never Mardi Gras’d before.

Mardi Gras 23!

There’s so many words to describe my Mardi Gras 2023 experience, but the one word that keeps coming to mind and making me smile is LOVE!

I loved every moment of Mardi Gras, from the parades, throws, events, friends and family.

This Mard Gras was special as it was my first year as a @zulusap1909 member. I’ve long to be a Zulu and to wear this gold blazer and be amongst my amazing brothers was a feeling that I simply am grateful for.

At the ball, I got to finally take a photo with my uncle wearing our traditional Zulu Coronation tales.

Man, y’all have no idea the emotions that come over me every time I look at that picture.

I get to carry on our family’s legacy in Zulu and that’s nothing I take for granted.

If you know me, you know Mardi Gras is my favorite holiday. I was legit at every parade and enjoying the atmosphere.

I caught shoes at Muses, drank, ate food on the routes, slept in a tent and spent time with people that legit mean more to me than they will ever know.

The best part about Mardi Gras was being able to be with my family. My family is my EVERYTHING and to see their faces, laugh with and love on them means the world!

FAMILY: Everyone know I’m big on family and to lose a big part of life, my brother, is truly heartbreaking. My brothers are my everything and to go from four to two is unbelievable.

Death is no fun and although it’s apart of the circle of life, it’s not an easy reality to face.

I’ve cried, laughed, hugged my family hard and plan to remember my brother as he lived life.

I’m forever grateful for my tribe, both biological family and chosen family.

It was such a blessing to be surrounded by love during a very difficult time.

Thank you to everyone who sent a messaged, card and picked up the phone to simply hear me breathe. I appreciate you all from the bottom of my heart.

I’ll forever cherish the memories and love my brother Mikey shared!
