🖤 'Black & White' exhibition (post 1 of 2) 🤍 Fronteer Gallery is delighted to present 'Black and White', a group exhibition featuring 40 UK based artists. Utilising black and white is a strong and striking artistic decision, and this exhibition is a celebration of what happens when artists cast aside colour in order to focus on composition, form, tone, light and texture. You can catch 'Black and White' until 11th April. We will be open 11-4 Tuesdays - Thursdays and 2.15 - 5.15 Saturdays. Feel free to DM me with any sales enquiries and, as ever, if you're an artist and I haven't tagged you in this post, let me know! #art #fronteergallery #blackandwhite #groupexhibition

This month, we are looking at artists who submitted work for our A Class Apart writing commission. Included in this selection is 'Commodity Fetish', 2018 by Eddy Dreadnought @eddy.dreadnought One of a series of 8 'pin-ups', using plastic j-hooks pinned to a painted plywood board with map pins. "I am a full-time contemporary artist working in the city of Sheffield, UK. My methods are performance, writing, drawing, video, found object sculpture and research. My work aims to ask questions, but open questions posed in a poetic way. It rejects certainty, and embraces absurdity." 👉 Explore the selected works on our website, and see more of Eddy's work here: https://axisweb.org/artist/eddydreadnought

Years ago we visited some of Yorkshire Artspace's resident artists with photographer Nigel Barker for our Meet the Locals interview series. We can still smell the ink, wood and paint just looking at these snaps. Pay them (and many others!) a visit yourself this weekend when Yorkshire Artspace Open Studios returns. Link in bio for info and our archive of interviews with these and more artists based at @yartspace. 📷 by @nigelbarkerphotouk: 1–2. Jennie Gill 3. Anthony Bennett 4–5. Seiko Kinoshita 6–7. @yartspace and I would love to invite you to join us on Thursday 23 October, 5-8pm, to celebrate the launch of YAS's member exhibition at Persistence Works. Autumn Almanac V, curated by @swseanwilliams , features 40 artworks from our studio community and gives a survey of the exciting visual art being made across our two buildings. YAS are also launching a Maker Showcase in the reception area. Labour of love has been selected for the members show and it's going to be exhibited with the sound piece which I'm really excited about. Yes it's my only show of the year, but when my health is so on and off, and I don't have capacity to apply or commit to other projects and deadlines, it's a brilliant to have a reason to finish something and show it locally. For now, that's plenty given how poorly I can be sometimes. I'm super grateful that this show exists. Please come and celebrate me finishing a piece of work and listen to the amazing mum's that I've worked with this year. On the same night, @sheffmuseums are also celebrating the opening of their latest exhibition at the Millennium Gallery. New Horizons showcases recent additions to the city’s art collection, including work by Dan Holdsworth, Grayson Perry, Bridget Riley, Sean Scully, Marlene Smith and many more. You have to RSVP for this one but not the YAS opening. After the previews, YAS studio member @yuenfongling is hosting the art party KUNST KUNST KUNST at @sidneyandmatilda, 8pm - 2am. Live performances, films, DJ sets, mirth and mayhem! Tickets available in advance or on the door. I'm definitely going to go to the art ball!! Haven't planned to go with anyone yet but I'm sure I'll find some of you there and we'll have fun!
