Eddy Gragus was a staple on the professional cycling scene in the late 90’s to the early 2000’s, winning titles around the world–most notably (to us), winning the Philadelphia Cycling Classic in 1996. 🏆 “The entire city came alive for cycling. In the days leading up to the race, every ride felt electric–fans in the streets, shouting encouragement, fully invested.” The Philadelphia Cycling Classic is presented by @amerigaspropanetanks

Two of the longest running and most popular road races in the state will take place in April. Kick off your 2025 road season with the CSU Oval criterium and Cobb Lake circuit race on April 19th and 20th. These races are hosted by your @csucycling team. Info link in bio. Photo- Andy Clark and Eddy Eddy Gragus during the 2002 CSU Oval Criterium. Both were scuffed up and chirping at each other about who caused who to crash. Photo by a young YGR. Today's content is brought to you by the official bike shop of YGR, @incycle.northerncolorado. Incycle Bicycles, a premier retailer of Specialized bikes, moved to Fort Collins in June 2023 and now occupies all three of the former Lee’s Cyclery locations in Fort Collins and Loveland. In addition to selling top-quality bikes, Incycle services all brands and proudly sponsors CSU Cycling and the Fort Follies, demonstrating its commitment to supporting the local cycling community. Stay tuned as Incycle continues to expand its support of the Northern Colorado cycling scene with free clinics, group rides, and other community events.

When I asked Eddy Gragus why Fort Collins cyclists would remember him, he said two things; winning the 1996 USPRO National Road Race Championships and crashing Andy Clark during the CSU Oval Crit. Coincidentally, I had (and was able to find!) a photo of Eddy and AC on the Oval just after the crash in 2002 or 2003. Note the road rash on Andy's leg. You can read more about Eddy's time in the Fort and what he's up to now on YGR. Link in the bio.
