POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This is registration. Riders arrive one by one in a steady stream. HQ fills with bikes, leaned against walls, posts, trees, anything upright.

Those already initiated pass a brief smile. They know roughly what they’re riding into. Someone from HQ says hello. Details are checked. Trackers are collected. Coffees are offered. The rest happens ‘out there’.

Bags get opened. Fuel gets laid out. Last-minute decisions quietly contradict the original plan. Conversations stay light. No one talks about distance or time.

Everyone looks calm, but doubt has already started doing its work. This is the last moment where the weekend feels contained. Where the light is still predictable. Where nothing has gone wrong yet.

Nothing has happened yet, but everything is about to.

Solstice Series Community: Omniloop 2025

Although I put a lot of time and effort into the Solstice Series routes and make a lot of posts to promote them, these, in my opinion, are not the main reason why the Solstice Series is a fantastic thing to be a part of.

Yes, the routes are important, but they are merely the stage, it is the people that make the Solstice Series what it is, and it is the people that give me the drive to keep organising the Series.

At most of our trials, I only see riders before and (hopefully) after the event. During the Equinox Omniloop, thanks to our centralised HQ, I was afforded the privilege of being almost constantly surrounded by amazing people.

As riders popped in and out of HQ, it was great to hear the tales, the trials and the tribulations from the road. It was a new way of experiencing a Solstice Series event, it was a privilege to share it. Equally, it was an eye opening experience for the riders to see the nervous mess that I become as I await riders to arrive home safe.

For me the Solstice Series is all about meeting(and spending time with) a group of amazingly talented, like minded people, who share a love of cycling.

As entries for the upcoming Equinox Omniloop continue to pour in, I can’t help but get excited for it. I’ll soon be starting the routing process, bring it on.

Here are some of my favourite rider photos from Omniloop 2025, all captured by @nielcopeland

It is time to let you know!
Race Through Poland No.8 will start at sunrise on 23.05.2026.

The upcoming edition will focus fully on the Western Carpathians, where our riders will meet a challenge, an extreme beauty, and the thrill of the mountain.
The roads, and ranges we love, the climbs and forests we're scared of, and the race that brings fulfilment of what we seek in adventure riding.

The official announcement and entries opening will happen mid-October 2025, right after we publish the RTPLNo.7 results, which are coming online very soon.

Stay tuned!!!

The Equinox Omniloop female and male categories both went down to the wire in the final hour.

I may be biased, but I think this may have been the most exciting female competition that I have ever witnessed in ultracycling, to have three strong riders all in contention for the top spot is uncommon and I felt privileged to watch it unfold and be part of it.

It would be remiss of me not to also call out Paul and James’ duel in the male category - made even more exciting with a few of other riders hot on their wheels. Three riders all scored 40 points, the ranking logic dictates that riders will be ranked by points, then distance, then elevation. Tom and Victor both completed the same loops tying 3rd place. Guilermo’s combination produced slightly less distance.

In the pairs category; Ede and Julia’s consistent performance secured them the top spot on the rankings. However, the level of camaraderie from ‘the Campbells’ and also our tandem dynamos ‘Dan and Logan’ is also something to shout up about.

One thing I failed to appreciate prior to the trial was how many riders were going for PBs. I am a big believer that success looks different to different people, we can’t all be Champion, but we can all smash our goals.

The atmosphere in the pavilion after the trial ended was electric(despite the lack of sleep), hearing everyone exchanging stories about their time on the road and about how they had smashed their distance/time PBs really made all of the time spent organsing the event worthwhile.

We have pre-event celebrations and post ride parties, these are great fun, but there was something special about everyone gathering so quickly after leaving the track. The energy was high, the emotions were raw, the tales from the road so vivid. Irrespective of points and position, 50 riders stood on equal ground, shared stories and bonded over their joint participation in the Equinox Omniloop.

The waiting list for next year is now live on our website, entry will open properly after the Solstice Sprint in June.

Like I said we’re not a Gravel event but we’re probably the nearest thing to it. Ireland doesn’t have the luxury of vast swaths of national forests or state owned parks. The land primarily was there to be farmed. Pay its way. Produce. So most of it is owned.
Riding down a lane on a Sunday morning is Ok. Bringing an organised event with 100 riders through a farmers field not Ok.

Having a count up of riders and Trackers this week. One tracker one rider. No more trackers no more riders. Link in the bio. I think we’re coming close to being full. Which is great to see on our 10th anniversary.

🔆Acier Race Team Values🔆

🫡Commitment🫡

- We celebrate healthy competition in the ultra-distance self-supported sphere to support each other in attaining ambitious personal goals.

- We highlight that wanting to race should not have negative or elitist connotations. In our events, racing and wanting to do one’s best should not be to the detriment of other competitors, quite the opposite.

- We believe that belonging to a team offers a shared sense of achievement and encouragement in supporting fellow team members to attain ambitious personal goals.

Cap no. 25 - Ede Harrison rolled into the finish just before 10:30 this morning looking pretty fresh indeed, all things considered! Our 6th 72-hour rider home, Ede is our first woman to finish in a time of 62 hours and 28 minutes.
