Edinburgh with the family 🏰📍

Planning a family city break? Here are some Calton Living favourites to add to your Edinburgh itinerary:

Stay: Haymarket Apartments by Calton
Make yourself at home in a Georgian townhouse in the West End, with a kitchen for easy breakfasts and snack breaks. The tram and train are close by for getting around. 🏠

Choose from small plates, sliders and pub classics to round off the day. Old Pal isn’t licensed for children under five, so this pick is best for families with older children.

Explore the interactive exhibits, try the illusions and take in the city views. Under-fives go free, and children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. 🌟

Haymarket is on the tram route, which runs through the city centre to Leith and Newhaven. For family travel, the family day tripper costs £10.50 and gives up to two adults and three children under 16 unlimited tram travel on the city zone for the day. @edinburghtrams

Let this be your reminder that you can absolutely ditch the big wedding and elope at your favourite local sandwich shop!!! M & L did just that a couple of weeks ago and my goshhhhh it was a beautiful day and just such a joy to capture!!!

We headed to Edinburgh today as we had tickets to see @legallyblondeshow in the @edinplayhouse 🎭 mommy was extra excited as she saw that @hannahlowther was on as our Elle for the show as she loved her ever since she found her on social media and she even saw her in SIX in 2024 🤭 we had an amazing time ✨

Getting to EOW by tram is easy. Hop off at The Shore, head along Constitution Street, turn right down
Assembly Street and you’re nearly there.

We’ve walked the route for you 👆

What’s going on?

There’ll be loads to see and do at EOW this Doors Open Day, from live demos and guided tours to hands-on activities and plenty of opportunities to get making yourself.

Our guided tours will bring you around the workshop floor, resident maker bays, welding area, paint floor, event space and more, with a chance to discover what happens in each part of the building.

Tours start at 11am and leave every 30 minutes throughout the day.

Catch live demos of our CNC routers, laser cutter and textiles machines, discover what our equipment can do and find out what you could make on your next visit to EOW.

Drop in for a look and leave inspired to make!

TinkerTown is taking over the yard! 🔨

Grab some safety gear, get your hands on real tools and see what you can build from pallets and scrap materials.

A hands-on chance for young makers to experiment, create and build something they can be proud of.
Drop in throughout Doors Open Day - no booking needed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (ages 5+).

Stitch, repair and reuse 🧵♻️

Head upstairs to our Event Space, where Edinburgh Street Stitchers and sewing volunteers from SHRUB Coop will be celebrating creative ways to give textiles a new life.

Drop in and make your own reusable gift tag from waste upholstery fabric and felt, learn some simple stitching skills, or bring along a garment in need of a little repair.
