This is #MyStory I am Dr. Zehra Husain, Pakistan's First Body Activist. Body Shaming is a topic very close to me since adolescence. It took me more than 10 years to love myself which seem long but a journey worth it all because I discovered my purpose in life in 2015. I made a women-only Facebook group last year by the name of Plus Size Pakistan - XERA | Curvy & co. Weight loss groups toh bohut hain, lekin embracing oneself regardless of where they are in their weightloss journey or not wanting to lose weight at all - this safe haven is for you. Absolutely no diet talk is allowed over there. Your soul is worthy of everything a regular sized individual enjoys. 😊 With a following of more than 10,000 on my social media handles (insta, page and group) collectively and counting, I help women fall in love with themselves regardless of their size, shape or color. There is divinity in diversity. I believe in an all inclusive, body-positive and a holistic way of life. I receive messages from women who are a member of my exclusive facebook group almost everyday where they tell me how I have helped them change their life. When I was a young girl, I stood up against body-shaming done to me by a P.E teacher. I wrote a complaint to the principal of my school and immediate action was taken. It was a turning point in my life. I haven't stopped voicing my views against bullying and body-shaming since then. I am 24 years old now. Young and empathetic. I did a body positivity photoshoot last year which was also Pakistan's first. It was revolutionary. It has changed the perception of Pakistan's beauty ideals and has inspired entrepreneurs to launch body positive fashion brands. I believe I am the first, socially responsible body positive brand and activist of Pakistan Also featured in dawn images and women's own magazine. It makes me super proud of myself and the women I inspire on a daily basis. I started many hashtags on body-positivity on instagram that are now being used by different body positive bloggers and that makes me immensely happy.
