I AM YOKO SHOW at Zipper Hall — 9/19/2026

Every show I perform is important to me, but “I AM YOKO” carried an especially profound weight. It is more than a project. It has become a mission.

It would have been impossible without the incredible team I was blessed with.

Thank you to my brilliant performers: Theo Bleckmann, Macie Stewart, Toth, Emi Helfrich, Glenn Kaino, Devra Hoff, Jason Lindner, Maggie Parkins, Nels Cline & Alex Cline and Rila Fukushima. You brought not only your superb skills, but so much love and kindness.

Thank you to The Broad, the parent of this project, for believing in me. Ed Patuto & Darin Klein, thank you for your love and trust; Jana Juhl & Sara Phoenix for your impeccable administration; and Pierce Walker & Eva Seta for helping bring the show into the world.

Mark Leucke, thank you for single-handedly handling the audio production. To make this show with a Cibo Matto crew member with whom I once toured America in a van felt deeply symbolic. Having you there supported my psyche in a place deeper than I can put into words.

Thank you to the Zipper Hall/Colburn team: David Mencos, Francesco Perlangeli, Victor Pineda & the entire crew. I couldn’t have asked for a better home for our first incarnation.

Glenn Kaino, thank you for the cool videos and extra funding. Corey Lynn Carter, thank you for your beautiful work on the costumes.

Thank you James Ferrell for filming Oracle scene. Thank you August for your help with projection.

Most importantly, thank you, Yoko, for all the inspiration. You changed the world, and it is still changing through your messages. My profound thanks to the family and estate—Kyoko, Sean & Connor Monahan—for trusting me. I love you so so so much.

Thank you to everyone who came and experienced “I AM YOKO” with us. I felt your presence and openness. You made it to a full show by being Yoko. Much love to you!

I began wanting to tell Yoko’s extraordinary story. Somewhere along the way, the project began telling me why her story still needs to be told.

This ship is now in the ocean. I’m excited to feel what lies ahead.

Next: Walker Art Center this Friday.

Thanks to everyone who turned out to @northeastla_market to support immigrant vendors and family businesses from Northeast LA. 💐 With special thanks to @dorianwoodmusic and Ariel Campos for the breathtaking ballads and to Danza Divina, El Río and DJ Archivo13 for keeping us grooving. 💐 The food, of course, was amazing! 💐 We had tacos dorados, tlayudas, enchiladas michoacanas and much more! 💐 Support these businesses when you see them around town!

HEY KIDS! FOR THE SECOND DAY IN A ROW, PITCHFORK HAS DONE A PIECE ON ELECTROCLASH WHICH AS WE REMEMBER WAS LAUNCHED BY ME AND MY FESTIVAL OF THE SAME NAME. I GOOGLED THE TERM ELECTROCLASH BEFORE I USED IT TO AVOID PROBLEMS AND YOU CAN GOOGLE THAT. A POPULAR DJ CLAIMED IT WAS HIS IDEA BUT ONLY CLAIMED IT AFTER I SPENT 80K ON MY ELECTROCLASH FESTIVAL AND POPULARIZED THE TERM WORLDWIDE. READY FOR THE DOCUMENTARY?

Contemplating Yoko Ono’s artistry with @thebroadmuseum’s Director of Audience Development @edpatuto - a profound joy! Yoko’s gift for immersion and emotion is alive in Ed’s generous context and curation. The “Yoko Only” tribute concert happens at the Broad this weekend (featuring Yuka Honda, Yo La Tengo, Nels Cline, Rufus Wainwright, and many others) and Yoko’s first solo museum exhibition in LA is open now at the museum. What a pleasure to experience Yoko in this way! Thank you Ed and Broad and thank you @yokoono
